Barring a bad day, the only team able to stay with UCLA is USC. I believe the Bruins are better, but SC is quite capable. The Trojan 1's and 3's are better than the Bruins 1's and 3's, so all they need to do is have a good day one any of the remaining pairs. The schools will play against each other maybe 5 more times, counting Pac 12 and Gulf Shores. My guess is SC will take 1 or 2 of those contests, but it will not be easy. What makes you say USC's 3 is better than UCLA's 3? They've never played before. Is that based on their results this season? I've said this before, but USC is automatic at #1. All USC has to do is win two more and they can beat UCLA. Will they be able to do that consistently? Probably not. USC also has to worry about winning those 3-2 matches consistently. They've already had a bunch this season.

Why arenβt Hallgren/Polletto playing 2βs? Seems like winning the top 3 pairs is USCs only hope against UCLA. I don't think they're better than Cannon/Slater. It's probably worth switching the two teams to see what happens though.

One other opponent that may be capable of slowing UCLA down is the weather. I haven't seen them play in poor weather yet this season, but maybe they have? I'm guessing that wind/rain could limit their hand setting and fast offense.

This may not be enough to topple them but it could be more of a challenge for sure! USC lost to SC after hosting a home Thursday match, playing the East vs West challenge on the weekend, flying cross country to Georgia across 3 time zones to compete yet again right after with no break. These girls are strong but that may have been too much to be on top of their game.

New AVCA poll: www.avca.org/polls/beach/3-25-19.htmlThe only change is Stanford falls from #14 to #17, and the intervening three schools each move up one. Note that Stanford was without Courtney Bowen from their #1 team this past weekend.

Did I miss something? How did Cal get to #8?
I thought AVCA was generous at #12.
Should we expect an upset from them this weekend?

#4 LSU head coach Russell Brock
"The Tigers will have an opportunity to make some more noise this weekend though when they travel to Miami for the FIU Surf and Turf Challenge to face five top-20 teams. The weekend will start on Friday with three matches, beginning with No. 1 UCLA, No. 10 Stetson and No. 7 FIU. On Saturday the Tigers will face No. 15 Grand Canyon and No. 16 FAU." - LSUsports.net
