Hate to say I told you so...Salaia's personality does suck on the court...and it does bring the team down... But I have to say I understand her frustration...from what I can see, she's the only player on the team who really competes. At least she has heart, even if it's dark at times. The poor woman has not recovered from being dissed as POY in her conference.

I saw it first hand at a match once, and what an attitude, not just with the other team, but her own team. It was the worst I have ever seen.

Really!? Worse than the sixteen old Brazilian on their National Team during this year's Olympic Games in Athens? That was the worst display I'd ever seen...

Wichita State served Nevada off the court and they never had a chance. WSU has one REALLY good server named Sarah Younes. A 5-9 lefty. Salaia could not pass her at all. A team that relies on a middle attacke better be able to receive serve better than that or this is what happens. Even without Younes serving, Nevada (took Hawaii to 5? twice?) was way outmatched.
Will be interesting tomorrow. They brought up a nice contengent of fans. Should be an interesting match. I know Lambo was really excited about getting to play Nebraska just to see where they really stack up with "the big boys." WSU played Nebraska in a spring tournament and were swept but still played pretty impressively. NU did not have Pavan, Stalls, or Busboom at the time though so I suspect they will make a difference.

Not impressed with Nevada at all. And yes I thought their team reeked of attitude, especially the setter.

Even without Younes serving, Nevada (took Hawaii to 5? twice?) was way outmatched. First all of let me congratulate the Wolfpack on their season. I know it didn't turn out the way coach Scruggs had wanted it to but they had a great year and have no reason to hang their heads in retrospect. They only lose 2 starters. I think they'll come back hungry next season. I don't know how Nevada played today but I don't think Wichita State saw the same Wolfpack team that took Hawai'i to 5 games twice this season. You'll be able to see Hawai'i play at the Womens Volleyball championship in Long Beach CA Husker, provided Nebraska makes it that far.

Thanks for the match information. By the way, Sarah Younes did not play last Spring, in the KSU tourney. Sara had sprained her ankle last weekend in the conference tournament semi-finals, and hasn't practiced much this week. Glad to hear her serving, at least, wasn't affected. It will be nice to be able to watch the match tonight. Thanks to the Huskers for making this available.

In spring tournaments, they typically don't where numbered jerseys or have program guides to be able to tell who the players are but I certainly would have noticed this young lady. She is just a petite 5-9 with a left arm wallop that would knock an elephant down. It was Coach Scruggs that commented that she served them off the court and Salaia that said she could not pass her serves at all. A team that lives on the strength of their middle attack Needs to pass or forget it. It will be interesting to see if Younes has an opportunity tonight to get into the rhythm that she was in last night.

UNI had a lot of experience with great servers, such as Cassie Busse, so that they could handle Younes. There were a lot of teams who can't, and there have been nights where she would get 10 aces in a match. That's tough. Last year, UNI beat WSU three times, and she had 3 aces in 10 games or so. UNI didn't handle her serves as well this year (heck, maybe it was OBrien that could do it?), and they struggled mightily against the Shockers.

"I don't know" and "I don't think" doesn't add up to much basis for the opinion that you have expressed. Is it possible that Nevada is not as good as you and other Hawaii fans think?
Wichita State played very well last night and this certainly impacted the way that Nevada played. In any event, you don't need to cut down Wichita State in your attempt to protect Hawaii's reputation.
