Saw this match tonight. Utah was horrible in game one. Worst passing I've seen in DI this whole year. Shank city. Not quite so bad in games 2 and 3.
Long Beach was OK, but basically unimpressive.
On the positive side, I can say that both setters were quite good.

For a Utah team ranked virtually all year, and with a final regular season's ranking of #20 they got their asses handed to them for the 2nd time this season by Long Beach State, and on a neutral court. Long Beach was fare too quick and athletic for their style of play....makes me wonder how they played Hawaii to tough and how they beat UCLA earlier this season! Tonight's match with UCLA will be interesting. UCLA, with 5 seniors playing on the floor together, should be a heavy favorite(per their pre-season and early season rankings) but they showed last night that they can be very vulnerable in spots. Those spots, however, don't include their backrow play as Zartman is as good as they get, or their MB play which was very solid. They can still be a little predictable and are not as quick as one would think that they would be. In order to win I think that Long Beach State has to play their best match of the season. A win here tonight would do wonders for this team's pre-season ranking next year as well as for their continued growth and development. Nevada Union's H.S. Team was in atttendance and of course so was Ali Daley. BTW, they play Mira Costa today at 5 at Cypress JC for the State H.S. Championships. We got some good news yesterday as well about our missing OH, Kristin Voysen. She has been out for nearly two months with undiagnosed migraines that were finally diagnoses as a rare type of viral infection....she was withdrawn from school for medical reasons, but is expected to be back next season as good as new.....the future at LBS looks very primising.....GO BEACH!

Oh I am so happy to hear that! She seems like a great kid, and it was so hard to see her suffer so much! I can't wait to see her play next year.

For a Utah team ranked virtually all year....makes me wonder how they played Hawaii so tough and how they beat UCLA earlier this season! UCLA's loss was mostly due to a flu bug that went thru the team that week. Seven of the players were sick when they played at Utah. I'm not touching anything having to do with Hawaii.
