He thought he didn’t have the need to play in Doha. Again, he would’ve been automatically in main draw. Wasn't it that Old Man Gibb's knees were hurting? They played in Sydney though, which is beyond understanding. Sydney is 3*. Doha is 4*. And Doha came a week after Sydney.

Lots of different possibilities for that. One is that Sydney is in Australia and Doha is in Qatar. Another may be that with Jake coming off injury - if he actually was - maybe they wanted to ease back into competition with what had to look like an easy event for them. Finally winning the three star would be worth 600 points and if they played well they would have won. To get more points in a 4 star, they would need to finish 3rd (thats based on last year's points breakdowns) and that result, in the Doha field was very unlikely for Crabb/Gibb even at their absolute best. Stafford and Billy got 480 for their 3rd, which might be more points than any US team gets in Doha.

I'm sure Taylor is thrilled to be sitting at home while his big bro plays into day two. Probably pretty happy that his team and Trevor's both played an event and Taylor took home more points and the same money

Better chance of getting good Olympic qualification points than dropping out of main draw seeding.
