Some comments on the UCSB match.
1.) The stats guy was pretty bad. I know of at least one player that had at least 2 more kills than she was given and another that was given at least one less error than she should have had. Other stats were suspect as well.
2.) My biggest surprise was the play of Jamie Garbisch. She played an outstandign all around match and fans sitting around me were very surprised that she (amound others) was only a sophmore.
3.) UCSB came out hard and fast in game one and the fans around me were quit surprised at our level of play. Game two we didn't look bad, just not really crisp, and A&M played liek I expected to see them play. Very scrappy with lots of well placed dinks, tooling blocks, and lots of good scrambles. Third game, more of the first game.
4.) Stat of the match: UCSB 13 aces-6 errors A&M 1 ace-10 errors. That's pretty much the story.
5.) Waldowski hit .688 and Sandell hit .600. Overall the Gauchos hit .370.
I watched the GT mathc and they didn't scare me as much as I thought they would. They do have a fast offense and there setter is good. The key for teh GAuchos will be good serving. An offense is never fast and a setter never looks really good if she is having to chase down the ball. I think it will be a good tough match with two well matched teams.
Last: Hey dumper40, where are you? Did you listen to the match. I hope so because to really do have a lot of volleybasll learning to do. ;D

This thread really should be titled UCSB vs. Alabama A&M....less some of the SEC fans get excited (or upset) about The Crimson Tide not making (or getting confused and thinking they made) the field of 64.
