Lets see if Iona can break the 10 point mark in this second game.. It's going to be tough they way they're currently playing.

30-12 Nebraska in G2. Hogg blocks Pavan for Iona's 10th point - that's a career moment sweetie, better savor it! Iona's kill leader (OH) has 194 kills for the season, how many matches does this team play - twelve!? Anyway, it'll be interesting to see who gets to play in game three for the Huskers. They put in a freshman from Sydney (Australia, really?) towards the end of game two and the crowd went nuts (she's only appeared in eight matches this year). I have to go back and agree with a point made by a previous poster...the Huskers are definitely the best team in the country! No offense Wahine fans.

12-7 Huskers at the first Iona timeout.
Iona actually led a couple of times early in the match (at 2-1 and again around 5-6) -- it was nice to see the players laughing and telling their coach, "Hey, we're leading!"...good approach ladies, enjoy the experience.
Ok, back to the match...

28-16 Nebraska at the 2nd Iona timeout. Iona seems to be playing a little more relaxed and aren't that bad of a team. I like Daley and Hogg, not overly impressed with Vasquez (who they keep mentioning), but overall the Gaels aren't that bad...just drew the GIANT, that's all!

30-19, Huskers empty their bench and give a couple of points up at the end because of it (had a brand new front row at the end of the match)...the freshman, Schroeder (sp?) with the kill for the Huskers.
Again, not a bad job by Iona...just way out of their league. However, they seemed to take it in stride and enjoy their experience (which is good).
Ok, off to check on other matches, I like this HuskerVision, it's pretty neat....

Ok, I thought it would be odd for her to be from 'Down Under', but you can never tell with the way Cook recruits! ;D

Question for a Husker fan who knows: Apparently the NCAA requires the cheerleaders to sit behind the end line rather than the side line during NCAA tournament matches; so why do they sit on the side lines during regular season matches? There have been plenty of instances when a player is running to get a dig that heads towards the cheerleaders, and those girls JUST SIT THERE AND DON'T MOVE! Thus, the player pursuing the ball has to stop before she can make the dig.
Where do other schools place the cheerleaders?

Holy crapola, did you guys just see that overpass kill by pavan...wowwwww Wasn't that a sight to behold? ;D She said in the press conference afterwards that she seldom gets overpasses like that on her side of the net. She was sure ready to take advantage of it though.

not too impressed with stalls game, shes a decent middle, but I don't think shes lived up to all the hype coming out of high school... Yeah, Stalls had a poor night. Only 6 kills on 12 swings with no errors for a crummy .500. Only 8 team blocks and one solo. Yeah, she has been quite a disappointment alright

In spite of being way outclassed on the court, they really did enjoy the experience. You can tell that from their post game comments. It was such a joy to watch their faces when the teams were introduced. Once the announcement of "Iona Gaels and YOUR NEBRASKA CORNHUSKERS" came across the PA, the crowd went wild and their faced just beamed. They said in the post game interviews that they usually play in front of about 100. "Awesome Experience" was the most used phrase by them in the interviews.

They really didn't show much tonight though. I'm sure they were holding back for WSU tomorrow. Pavan only got 15 swings (hit .333) and that is not even enough to warm her up.
WSU's primary attacker is 5-9 Younes and depending on how the rotations start, they will be playing against each other tomorrow. Should be interesting.

Gotta love those Gaels...their website already has a photo of the team under the scoreboard with the final score of their match with the Huskers. And everybody in the picture is beaming! I think they enjoyed their first NCAA tournament.

I think they enjoyed their first NCAA tournament. I wish I could have been at the post-game press conference to listen to their comments. At the game you could tell they were enjoying it, even if the game wasn't going their way at all.
