I believe CSUN lost last year to LMU in the first round. So, no change for them.

Y'all know by now that UCLA defeated Long Beach St in three straight games. I thought LBSU would've pulled off an upset tonight - they looked good in game one, but then they started to misconnect and have no rhythm in the last two games. Brittany Ringle, Brynn Murphy and Chrissie Zartman as always played well for the Bruins. Zartman was everywhere and I don't know why LBSU served to her - she's one of UCLA's best passers. Were you watching the ball or Chrissie? That is, are you sure Chrissie wasn't just moving to get to the serves she received rather than just standing their and waiting for the serve to get to her area? A lot of peopel (inot necessarily you) ask why teams keep serving to a particular player, however, they're watching the server serve the ball, then the flight of the ball, then the serve reception by the player on the other side of the net. If they would instead have been watching the playing that received the ball the would notice that she moves to get into position to receive the ball. Chrissie is very good at that, Paula Gentil is very good at that, many other liberos and defensive specialists are very good at that. One of my favotire players to have watched covering large parts of her side of the court on serve receive was Ashley Bowles. In the regional matches at Wisconsin back in the late 1990s it looked like she was covering about 75% of the court for UCLA on serve receive.

No team ever wins or loses because of the refs....Thank God I don't have to hear anything else this tourney from the Beachman.................. The officiating was poor, but Marv made bad calls on both sides of the net! That was no excuse but I think that the LBS players let the first couple of bad calls in game 1 affect them.....and you can't let that happen, pure and simple.....we played fairly well tonight but with far too little passion.....you can't do that with UCLA, which is loaded with talent! I counted their players and they only have 4 players on their entire roster who were NOT FAB 50 players in H.S.. With that much skilled talent they have really underachieved, which is typical of the types of players that Banachowski's program puts out in the end! Having said that, they were still better than us tonight, but I like our future a great deal!

With that much skilled talent they have really underachieved, which is typical of the types of players that Banachowski's program puts out in the end! Here's Beachman's thesis: Banachowski gets talent but can't coach. At the same time, Gimmilaro is the great developer of talent (we've heard it ad nauseam). So, it follows that, since UCLA just swept the Beach (while playing poorly - see the 11 missed serves, 6 blocking errors, and 5 aces against them for starters), the only conclusion is that Long Beach can't recruit any kind of talent anymore. That's too bad, it used to be a good program.

Why the picture of Julie Hermann and not of Sharon Cessna? I couldn't find a picture of Sharon Cessna. She'll be up next, provided I find a picture.

So my math was off by two,,,,gee, sorry about that, still doesn't detract from the fact that year in and year out they are absolutely LOADED WITH TALENT, and for the last 12 years or so haven't been able to win a National Championship

Why the picture of Julie Hermann and not of Sharon Cessna? At first glance, I thought that picture was of Hillary Clinton and Barefoot was booing on the redhair color change.
