Enjoying a nice recording of Rachmaninoff piano concerto no. 3 on the radio. For a while it was one of my favorite pieces. Could not get enough of it. If you ever have a chance to see it performed live, buy the ticket. It's worth it. Rachmaninoff's 3rd piano concerto plays a prominent role in the film Shine (1996), starring Geoffrey Rush. Rush also won the Oscar for Best Actor. I remember liking the film but the last time I saw it was in 1997, so it's been awhile. I made it a habit to watch almost every single film that featured pianists or the piano itself over the years.

My favorite fugue is the 4th movement of Mozart's "Jupiter" Symphony (Symphony No. 41, K. 551). J.S. Bach wrote many great fugues but none move me like this masterpiece by Mozart.

Gershwin is awesome. Fits in both the Classical and Jazz genres.

Gershwin's Concerto in F is one hell of a piece... Listened to it on Friday and again on Saturday. The more I listen to it the better it gets.

Now enjoying Rimsky Korsakov's Scheherazade. Another amazing piece that I've had the pleasure of seeing live.

In Stiller Nacht
From the opening scene of Better Call Saul (Season 6, episode 5). Performed by Pink Martini with the von Trapps.
---
This chorale piece was actually composed by Johannes Brahms, who was inspired by a folk song.

Something different: suite on Russian themes and symphony no. 3 by max bruch.
Darn good. I'd call it a hidden gem given this is only the third or fourth time I've listened to it in 20 years.
