Knipe is lucky those two eightth grader wonders and bffs walked into his club gym that one day. I would not call him a good coach and neither would the 2012 olympians I bet. Agreed. He's also not a molester.

The NCAA Men's Volleyball Selection Committees normally accepts bids for host sites in 4 year increments. In 2018, the NCAA Men's Volleyball Selection Committee accepted bids for the 2019 through 2022 Men's Volleyball Championships. The four universities chosen to host were the following: 2019 Long Beach State University; 2020 George Mason University; 2021 The Ohio State University; 2022 UCLA. Like other NCAA sanctioned sports, member institutions participating in Men's Volleyball can submit a bid and the committee will determine which schools will be granted the award. In 2021, the NCAA Men's Volleyball Selection Committee will determine sites for the 2023 through 2026 seasons. Hopefully, UH will put in a bid for one of those years. In fact, UH should put in a bid. No way the NCAA Men's Volleyball Selection Committee can say, SSC is to small an arena to hold event. Not after hold it at the Pyramid which is quite a small arena. blah blah blah It's Economics, stupid. No one knows four years from now what kind of team Hawai'i will have. If Hawai'i were to host, and Hawai'i didn't make the Final Four, the arena size will not matter at all because the crowds will be sparse anyhow.

Knipe is a 3 time USMC/AVCA Coach of the Year, an honor bestowed upon the recipient by his peers. He has won 3 National Titles--one as a player-- and two titles as head coach for LBSU. Moreover, Knipe has coached 6 National Players of the Year. As the National, and US Olympic head coach, he finished 5th at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Your "opinion" that Knipe is not a good coach is laughable. I guess many on this thread are moving on, after throwing your All American setter Joe Worsley under the bus, to attacking the integrity of Alan Knipe. You guys need to get a life.

Hawaii will most likely not host. It’s not about arena size or how good the team is. That has no bearing on who hosts. It’s a combination centered around economics and geography.
Those two factors combine to make a Hawaii a very undesirable location in the opinion of the NCAA. Every single men’s college volleyball fan not living in Hawaii will need to buy and take a 5+ hour flight and the NCAA would have to pay that for the teams and NCAA staff as well.

My final post on this thread, Coach Knipe and the 49ers are to be congratulated, winning 2 NC back to back is not an easy task even with a lot of returnees. Hawaii is a formidable foe, with 5 All Americans and depth at almost every position and the physical size to go with it. Every time we made adjustments to our blocking schemes or anything else between matches, it seemed the Beach was making theirs on the fly, constantly making countermoves to what we were doing. The teams were so even thru 4 matches, yes it was a 3-1 advantage to LB in the final but the set scores were all tight. Lets give Coach Knipe his due, he made some fine coaching moves and it was enough to win him a second straight title. One of his best moves was replacing Richards with Seigfried at OH, also of note is how effective their block was in neutralizing Rado's hitting production throughout the 4 matches. Something no other team had managed to do all year. On the bright side for the Warriors is that they return a strong nucleus of players that got us to the NC match, and we have the luxury of replacing our 3 starting seniors with 3 foreign national players. As far as NCAA playoff sites go, the best we can hope for is that we end up playing in a neutral site for the NC title. We've become accustomed to being overlooked as a playoff site, it's nothing new, it will make winning the title even more meaningful because we have to do it away from the Stanley.

Just went back and watched this again. Jesus, the service errors in Men's volleyball are such a drag.
