I don’t see Humler staying long if he’s stuck on the bench another season. Hopefully he stays, Hawaii will need to replace Cowell and Rado at pins for 2021. Anastassiades will also be gone after next year

He will get his time as a starter, eventually. He is a bench player for the Czech junior national team so hopeully he is used to sitting and knowing his role. Dimi is the star for the Greek youth team and I think sitting will be harder on him. Gui starts for Brazil Junior team as well.

Not sure transferring will do him any good. He will have to start over again if he goes to another school. He and Thelle are working well at the "B" team so he should have that advantage over the incoming freshmen.
Keep in mind that not too many people though that Cowell was going to beat out Rosenmeier this past season. If Humler can improve to a point where he deserves to play, Charlie will find a spot for him. Every year is a new start. Everybody will have a crack at starting. As an elite program, you cannot live off last season. If somebody is better than last year's starter, that person deserves to play.
I like to look back at the Jake Arnitz situation at UCLA too. The guy was a second team All American in 2017. Went into 2018 with high hopes and eventually got benched before regaining his spot at the conclusion of the season.
I do wonder if Humler is going thru some kind of homesickness or confidence crisis or something. If you look at his Czech Republic highlights, he was a fiery dude who was very expressive and demonstrative. As a Warrior, he seems pretty mellow and quiet. I would like to see him regain his form of his youth days. Sometimes a little mental adjustment is all is needed to unleash the beast in a player.

He should redshirt then, since he's getting off season surgery.

He should redshirt then, since he's getting off season surgery. I agree....would be a waste of a year if he only do spot duties. He could come back in 2021 and have three years to start.

Players want to play but they also want to be on a stacked team that can compete for a title. Recruits from now on know Hawaii will be stacked so you either rise or wait your turn and know your role.

You're right. There aren't many Division 1 men's volleyball teams whereas the Women do. #GrowTheGame

I remember after Umlauft left, Wade lost Steve Maar( canadian future olympian stud) because he did not want to be the only good player on a bad team UH finished last in MPSF after Umlauft left.
The warriors got Siki in Maar’s place and then came Coach Milan and the rest is history.

Besides his offense and blocking he has a very effective jump float serve as well.

Isn't Dimi's natural position at OPP while Humler is listed as an OH/OPP? There's not a whole lot of game footage on Dimi so his passing and defensive skills is a mystery. When he did play, Humler looked fairly decent at OPP and behind the service line. I hope his hand mends quickly so that he can compete hard for Stijn's vacant OH position. Not a whole lot of clips on Santos, how does his game compare with Dalton's? Is he a better blocker?

After reviewing the clip on Santos again, I think we're getting a pretty dependable MH. The great thing is, this clip is from 3 years ago so his game should have progressed from that time.

I’m extremely excited about the potential of this kid. As a 17 year old two years ago he was one of the better player on the U19 squad. He is second in his spike reach at 346 but has the best block reach on the team at 329. He was measured at 198 cm(6-6) but have a higher block reach than his taller teammate who was 204 cm(6-8). Brazil is a powerhouse in volleyball so if this kid is one of the more physically gifted jr players in that country, he is going to be a force here. u19.boys.2017.volleyball.fivb.com/en/news/guilherme-santos-guides-brazil-in-upset-of?id=72143
