May 20, 2019 Iowa Volleyball Communications Contact: Jack Rossi IOWA VOLLEYBALL COACH BOND SHYMANSKY PLACED ON ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa Athletics Department announced on Monday volleyball head coach Bond Shymansky has been placed on a 30-day paid administrative leave due to an NCAA rules violation. Earlier today the University notified the NCAA, and the investigative process is ongoing. A press conference with UI Athletics Director Gary Barta will be held today at 3 p.m. (CT) in the media room on the lower level of Carver-Hawkeye Arena. It's a paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation. That's basically standard procedure. SOP if there's significant evidence of something shady going on. Yes, I would think that for the leave to be put in place the underlying issue is potentially pretty serious or he's raised concerns by not appearing to be cooperative or transparent enough.

Wait, so he did something wrong, so he gets to keep getting paid, but can't work during a month when there are no kids on campus and it is a dead period anyway.
Thats a punishment with some force behind it.
Sounds like a paid vacation to me.
