Even though Kingdon played good in the last couple of weeks. I still don't think that she's capable of scaling up her level once the real competition starts (meaning bringing the A-teams of various opponents). It's bothering that she got benched in China last pro season and played sporadically in Brazil in the past one. I do hope I'm wrong though.
Thompson was shown what the real competition is. The Italians were closing the blocks and that really bothered her. It's hard to judge a player who doesn't have a pro experience. I wanna see Cuttino next as her improvement rate in Casalmaggiore is insane. Drews is the girl to beat for obvious reasons.
Chiaka obviously is the better middle amongst the 4 mb's that we deployed. She's fast and has good block. Consistent blocking has been missing the games of Foluke and Adams the past years. Washington has been steadily improving and I really follow her pro career. Getting to the Italian League in a bottom dweller team secured her starting spot hence the necessary reps to improve playing against the best pro teams in the world. I can see both in Tokyo together with Aki. Rettke has the biggest ceiling of the 3. If she forgoes her college this year and turn pro she can challenge someone's spot in Tokyo.

Time to start the rumor! Stuttgart, the American training team in Germany and the national champ this year with five Americans and Germany having no foreigner limits but smaller budgets is going to offer two year contracts to two Americans. In one of the few times ever a European pro team is going to try to temp two NCAA players with eligibility to leave early.
The carrot is two guaranteed pro seasons, a top level German contract, an opportunity to play in the Champions League, and the sales pitch that it is the gateway to making the US Olympic team going to Tokyo in 2020. Of course the alumni of one of these players colleges will say "no,no,no" don't sacrifice your NCAA aspirations for a dream. You have plenty of time." The other school will probably say "Hell yes, we would love to have one of our former players playing in the Olympic's."
From Stuttgart's perspective it's a no-brainer. They already love Americans in that city. The prospect of grabbing two potential future American stars for two years would be enviable and if they rose to the challenge Stuttgart might have a chance to advance to the round of six in CL. Stuttgart, dangle that contract carrot and see who has the competitive drive to immediately reach for that golden ring.
This rumor my gift to Karch Kiraly for all the derogative things I have posted about his Peter Principled coaching tenure of the USNT.

It sounds like you are referring to Plummer as one of those players, but I may be wrong. If so, Plummer has indicated that she is graduating early. AFAIK there’s no confirmation on when she plans to graduate, but after fall quarter (Stanford’s ends in December) makes the most sense if she’s trying to go to Tokyo which she has indeed stated she wants to do.

I suppose Kingdon in Tokyo is possible-- stranger things have happened -- but barring injuries, it's a reflection of the lack of depth and weakness on the outside.

I did say I could be wrong. The description about not sacrificing NCAA for a dream fits Stanford more so than Wisconsin, BYU, or Cinci, so that’s why I thought of Plummer first. IMO it’s one of Karch’s tragic flaws that he didn’t invest in some of the NCAA players a summer or two earlier.

Yes, they trained with the USA senior team but only Hodson competed with some of them. I've said in the past, Where is the Karch that let Hodson AS A HIGH SCHOOLER play with some of our B/C team members (at the time) at the Pan Ams and train in the USA gym.

Wait, so you're saying Italy didn't sweep the USA??? With Egonu they would have. Italy had a couple of their first string players in, USA had just 1 I think with Courtney. Italy had malinov, the bro, and the middle

Both teams played pretty badly. Sure glad it was an interesting game. BTW, for those of you drooling over Sylla, you might want to look at her passing.
