My dog is still limping but with Previcox, an anti-inflammatory (plus pain reliever), he's been able to go on his usual walks. A couple days ago, I isolated the problem to a right pinky toe. My best guess is that when he was pursuing the squirrel, he got his right pinky toe jammed (or caught in an awkward angle) against a chain link fence as the squirrel scampered up for its escape. At home, whenever I touch his pinky toe, he pulls it back and he growls or yelps. He will never bite me but he will mouth me with his teeth to let me know I should be more gentle with his injured toe. Here's my dog saying, "I'm warning you," during an examination of his pinky toe. That's my hand (and arm).

My dog and I have this ritual around noon where I take him out to the yard to pee. If he pees, I let him back inside and give him a lunch snack. Today it was hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, and a slice of bread, but it varies from time to time. (This is actually better than what a lot of human people have for lunch, come to think of it.) He always expects this and I think he "saves" his pee for this occasion, that calculating brat. So today, I did the same thing except that when we were out and he's peeing, I got distracted by a leaning fence. I guess this took too long because he was waiting by the door of the house, wanting to be let in for his lunch snack, and almost wailing a long "WOOOOOO-OOOOOH-OOOOOOOH!" like he was saying, "What the f*** is holding you up?"

He's pulling on the leash and looking for trouble, so the toe's much better. Still limping a bit. So, Thank you, Previcox.

i went to an event at the ransom center tonight. as i was waiting for the bus to go home, i saw a guy walking his doggo and he accidentally stepped on the doggo's foot.
i thought of wolfgang and the saga of the hurt doggo toe.

But I didn't step on my doggy's paws. He got himself injured by chasing a squirrel up a chain link fence and jammed his little toe.
