I have a small dog stroller that I got when my previous dog's health started failing. She enjoyed going for rides around the neighborhood and I didn't feel guilty about always leaving her behind. Towards the end of her life, it also came in handy around the house as she wanted to be near me and I could stroll her around to whatever I was doing. She usually fell asleep in it. It also kept her out from under our feet in the kitchen when we were cooking (small kitchen and smallish dog). I miss that ole girl. I thought the stroller was a ridiculous extravagance but I do feel that it improved her quality of life at the end. I think strollers are fine for old and infirm dogs. But I have been seeing folks with strollers with young (or middle aged) dogs that are perfectly capable of walking and running on their own. Which begs the question of why. I think there are some people confusing their dogs for human babies. You see LOTS of dogs being strolled around in south Florida. Snow birds seem to enjoy pushing their fluffy little dogs around. Consequently, you see LOTS of dog strollers at the Goodwill store too.

People can do whatever they want I suppose, so long as they are not mistreating their dogs. But personally, I don't think strollers for otherwise healthy dogs should be encouraged, at least in most cases. They are dogs, not a human baby. It's better for their physical and mental well-being for them to walk and move on their own, unless you are talking about certain situations where it might not be appropiate to do so. But those are the exceptions rather than the rule. Unless the dog is elderly or have an illness, I don't think it needs to be on a stroller. I can't help but wonder whether some owners are confusing their dog for their children, especially those empty-nesters whose kids have moved away after college graduation.

Most Snowbirds in SoFlo have been empty nesters for 20+ years so I don't know what they are doing!

I have a miniature Shih Tzu named Holly. I got her from my nieces and nephews at Christmas Time. She looked like a little Gerbil with black curly hair. You could only see her little eyes. I didn't want a dog again after losing my last pet. It was just too hard. I am glad my relatives didn't listen to me. She has become my constant companian and goes everywhere with me. The longest we have been apart is a few hours. She never barks or growls, in fact she is so quiet that a panic at times thinking I may have left her somewhere. She loves to roll herself up in the blankets at night. She is so spoiled I have to go and get her out of bed when its time to go to work. She is truly the most loving and gentle dog I have ever seen. The only time I think I could kill a person is if they mistreat their fur baby.

I tried three different photo's and no go. It keeps saying unable to download. Wolfgang can give you a tutorial. He taught azvb but I still don't know how to do it. First, you need to know how to post photos on this site. That azvb thread should serve as a basic tutorial. Then, when you know how to post any photo on the web, you can start posting your own photos. In order to do this, you have to be using a website that allows you to upload/store your personal photos. There are many. Once you know how to do that, it's just a simple matter of going through your photos and right-clicking the desired photo and select the "copy image address" option (upon right-clicking). Now you've got the image URL copied. Then, come to this site and upload. If this is confusing, what you need to do is just teach yourself, via that azvb thread, how to post a simple photo you found on the web to this site.

My doggy got into a big fight with a squirrel today. He had a firm grip on the squirrel's head/neck and started to shake it. I was too busy with my own outdoor kitchen project when I heard the scuffle. By the time I got there, there was blood all over and I saw the squirrel crawl away into the bushes. My dog's heart was pounding and he was breathing hard. It was a very tense situation. I dragged my dog back into the garage so that I could wipe away all the blood. He had slight scratches (or bites?) on his snout and mouth. I cleaned up the wound and applied some iodine and styptic powder. When I was done cleaning up his wounds, he ran back to the bushes to look for that squirrel. He's up to date on all his shots and unless the wound is deep or life-threatening, there's no need to see a vet. They would essentially do the same thing I did but charge you $120 for it.

Although my dog was up to date on his shots, the vet did give him another rabies booster and an oral antibiotic in case one of the bites got infected. I believe dog skin is in layers and they can get a pocket of infection between the layers so watch out for that.
