That's Monday morning quarterbacking. Let's say that in Hughes mind, or the mind of her advisors, KWJ has a 50% change of needing a 6th shoulder surgery during this run to the Olympic qualifying. And let's say she thought she had a 70% chance of qualifying with Summer. Any betting person would take the higher odds. Sure, at this moment it looks like KWJ will qualify. And with Hughes would even be likely to medal, but neither KWJ nor Hughes could be sure at the time of her shoulder's ability to go. While I understand that she has a history of shoulder issues, you can't say, based on her history, that she isn't a better pony to get to the Olympics vs. Summer Ross. No you can't SAY, everything is a question of probabilities, and I still think that shoulder, as do a lot of people, may not hold up through the olympics. It's just odds. You look at your odds and you take action based upon the best odds, no guarantees. There are plenty of NBA teams that bet on a chronic, recurring, 50/50 injury projection based upon multiple medical reviews .. .and some lose, and some win. Bill Walton might have been the best ever, but his damned feet wouldn't allow it. There was a physiological weakness that was not fully reparable. Kerri's shoulder is like Walton's feet... you can never be certain if/when they fail again. |

If Sara's only goal is to qualify for the Olympics then she isn't worth the trouble anyway. If her ambition is to do something at the Olympics then its Kerri or bust. Also if she wants to make more money and be more competitive in the interim. She and Summer can win at a high level but Kerri/Hughes could legit be the best team in the world if Sara improves and they gel, Summer doesnt have that potential |

another way to say it is that Hughes took the safe bet with a lower payout vs. the risky bet with a higher payout.

I personally think Hughes is overrated myself and she is getting the results that match her ability.

Does anyone think Hughes will actually contact KWJ now? After KWJ made the offer a while back & she was declined, you have to think Hughes will have to be the one to reach out.

Does anyone think Hughes will actually contact KWJ now? After KWJ made the offer a while back & she was declined, you have to think Hughes will have to be the one to reach out. GLM says Summer is going to be out a while sometime fairly soon, Sara would be best served to move now but maybe they want enough results so they can try to catch up when she comes back? If its not KWJ, Larsen would be interesting |
