I bet he brings Hancock over Foecke. WHY DO PEOPLE THINK THIS SHE HASN'T MADE A ROSTER SINCE MAY Honestly it’s just default. I don’t think he’s bringing five OH’s, I don’t think he wants to bring JWO. Maybe Lowe instead? I could see Foecke replacing one of the Tokyo outsides, but not as a tagalong fifth.

My roster predictions for this tournament: S: Calini, Poulter OH: MBH, Robinson, Hill, Larson, Foecke MB: Ogbogu, Washington, Dixon, H. Tapp OPP: Drews, Lowe L: Courtney Bring the extra OH so one can be a second Libero when needed. Make ANYONE but an OH the captain so we can see Larson at Libero if needed. Can you explain why the captain cannot be libero? I know it was mentioned somewhere during VNL as part of the FIVB guidelines, but care to explain again please 🙂

If they are going to ride Courtney out, might as well get her as many reps as possible. Bring 5 OH, if Courtney gets hurt make an OH play libero. They did just fine the week of VNL with an injured Courtney and a deported Lake. They can get by, especially when Robinson would be one of the options to play L.

The captain should be on the court the whole time. Some teams will have a middle blocker be the captain but then there has to be a "floor captain" for when the MB captain is not on the floor. It is just what I have seen and heard announcers say. Someone on here took the time to look up that rule to confirm at some point on another thread.

Who is Gabi Candido? I don't know her. Also Brazil's depth at Libero is insane. Can we borrow one? Who sits this one out I wonder? Leia or Suelen?

She's one of the players that didn't join the NT earlier this year when others were opting out, but she'll be playing with Sarah Wilhite in Brazil. I think Gabi Candido's call might be for the South American Championship rather than the World Cup. Their outsides for World Cup might look like this, Natalia, Gabi, Drussyla, and Amanda. Regarding libero, probably Suelen.

That seems like a silly reason - someone who is on the court for 3 1/2 rotations can be the captain but someone’s who’s on the court 5 rotations cannot be? (I know that’s the rule but you’d think they wouldn’t allow an MB for the exact reason they don’t allow libero - if that is the reason??)

It's one of those rules that don't make much sense yet it just "is".

It does sound silly, but remember that there is no rule that says a MB can't stay on for 6 rotations. The libero is the only player who, by rule, MUST come out for at least 1/2 a rotation.

China has begun preparations for the World Cup. One of their liberos said that the new Mikasa V200W ball which will debut for this tournament feels heavier and more difficult to pass.
