"Leftover players"...harsh language. I note that, not counting Curry and Lilley having just finished their sophomore years, 30% of the remaining Pan-Am Games team (Rishel, Parsons, Tapp) were on the VNL weeks #1 and #2 rosters - hardly "leftovers." Also, given the many concerned comments regarding the libero position in the various 2019 VNL forums, just keep an eye on Curry. I think her play in the Pan-Am games will make or break her as a 2020 candidate. Crazy to think about, I suppose, but by the time she heads back for the fall semester, Curry may have played more minutes on national teams this summer than Lake and JWO combined. I know...as I said, crazy.

I reviewed the 2015 Pan-Am games thread yesterday, and all matches were live stream on ESPN3, which will, hopefully, be true this year. Apparently, however, by one comment on the thread, they cut over to women's boxing during the women's volleyball championship match!

You’re taking “ leftover players” negatively and it wasn’t meant that way. Leftover meaning not going to Tokyo, left to fill other rosters for other tournaments that don’t mean as much to Karch. Sure some are not ready this quad and need more experience. Some will only get the opportunity to be used as back ups or practice players, which is not altogether a bad thing, they are still playing volleyball at a high level.

I think I remember seeing here on VT that Kelly Hunter was told by Karch after 2020 would be better for her.

I’m surprised none of the VNL setters are on this roster. I'm not. Everyone still in contention for 2020 will be staying in Anaheim working with the actual NT coaching staff and the A-teamers. I was assuming this to be the roster for the Pan Am Cup starting a week from Saturday. How different can that roster look?

Mostly agree on 2020. But, don't be a jackass and just call them leftovers. It's also a developmental roster. If I recall correctly, names like Carlini and Ogbogu were on this roster a year ago and most, as of today, expect them to be starters on the 2020 team. Those two were on the Pan Am Cup roster in 2018. The Pan Am Games is held every 4 years; the Pan Am Cup is held annually. Too damn many Pan Ams. I guess at least the airline is dead so that doesn't somehow add to the confusion.

Should we expect Brazil and the Dominican Republic to send their best players to this tournament? I forget if this overlaps with the IOQT.....

Another homer question. Do you think Lindsey Haddock Eppich was considered for any of these teams? If not, should she have been? Or maybe she wasn’t interested. Is LHE even playing pro? I would hope so, loved her play!!!

I think I remember seeing here on VT that Kelly Hunter was told by Karch after 2020 would be better for her. I doubt that's really true... assuming Lloyd stops after 2020, the NT is pretty set with Carlini, Hancock and Poulter battling for top spot for at least 2 more quads I think. Frankly I don't see Hunter ever being in the mix, especially with all the aforementioned already clocking playing time for the NT

but Lilley was? Hmmm, puke on Lilley who just outplayed Big 10 sensation SSS? Lilley has massive potential.

They'll want more than three setters training in the gym because some players get injured and/or decide to move on all the time. The more the merrier. Let them compete, whatever happens, happens.
