I predict you’ll see an influx of Badger fans over here this spring now that Whalen’s a Mustang. Go Poly!

Yay for Badger fans! Mariah is a great player and an awesome young woman. Excited to see who will be paired up and Poly should have some depth this year with Torrey and Adlee coming back.

Walked around the Cal Poly campus today. Empty and quiet like a ghost town. From the top of the parking structure on Grand Avenue, I could see an area with sand immediately below (and adjacent Mott Gym) that was under construction. Does this have anything to do with the beach vb program?
I could see the beach vb practice facility on the other side of Mott. No one was there. I snaked my way around the campus, through alleys and sidewalks, and pedestrian paths. Used the restroom, too, in the music building.
The campus is small with lots of interesting buildings. (Officially, the Cal Poly campus size is 6,000 acres which makes it one of the largest, but you don’t feel 6,000 acres. The part of the campus that is frequented by and used by students and occupied by buildings is actually very small.) I may have said this before but the one thing I hate about Cal Poly’s campus is the lack of a wide open central gathering area where students assemble for a variety of reasons, e.g., political protest, peddling wares, recruitment, hackey sack, frisbee. The closest thing I found was the rectangular lawn area by the engineering buildings. Way too small.
The large multi-story rec center is really nice. Lots of students were in there so despite the ghost town feel of the campus, students are here in town and on campus in preparation for the term (beginning Jan. 8).

First tournament of the year ( at FSU ) will set the tone for 2020 season. If CP goes 4-0 on the opening weekend, watch out.

Anyone want to venture a guess at parings? Will he split up Emily and Torrey? Who will be paired with Adlee and Mariah?

Hey all ...! By the looks of it we're in for the great season. I don't want to count the chickens before they hatch ( remember Cleveland Browns ) but I can't help not to feel good about CP's chance to go all the way in 2020. Return of VW sisters and Whalen addition is with out the doubt huge boost for bvb program. While most universities , ranked higher then CP, are going through rebuilding , Todd Rogers stacked the roster with quality seniors. Hopefully new and returning players will be able to buy in to team first mentality. 2019 squad had the best season in programs history and with all the new athletes 2020 should be even better. I also don't think that Rogers will pair TVW & ES because with two quality defenders he can have solid 1-2 punch. Like I mentioned in my previous post MW & AVW will compete for 3&4 and #3 JL & #31 VR will battle it out for 5&6 with some other players making their mark when split blocking opportunity presents itself. Can't wait !

Here's my prediction:
TVW/TM, ES/MG competing for 1-2,
ADV/JL, MW/JU for 3-4,
VR-EJ/BG and DP/PS-KG or HR if she doesn't redshirt will compete for 5-6.
The great thing is there are quite a few split blockers which Todd loves to have so there are many options. Can't wait for the season to start! They will have to be strong right out of the gate and ready to play in the humidity!

Two big wins with major implications for final seeding. Can't wait to see how good the team will be once TVW & Gordon figure things out. I'm mighty surprised that no one is talking about CP's new BVB facility on campus and the enormous crowd in attendance. Not sure if we had 2.5K like LSU but there were lots of fans there. Great start !

Great start ! Teams and their SID's better start tracking attendance because according to volleyballmag, Volleytalk is an authorized source for attendance numbers and records. That's either absurd or VT is more prestigious than I thought!
