VOLLEYTALK
2019 PICK-THE-WINNERS CONTEST
FINALLY, IT’S HERE!!
Please join vbbetterthanbb , FreeBall , first year volunteer vballfan17—and a special woohoo shout out to vballfan17!— and me in welcoming in another season of VT Pick-the-Winners Contest! D-I matches start Friday, August 30. As in the past, this contest runs weekly through the regular season, with weekly winners and a season winner to be awarded with demonstrable avatar bragging rights. (There will also be a separate NCAA tourney contest.) All Volley Talk members are eligible and encouraged to enter.
This year in response to popular demand from intense competitors (okay, vbprisoner ), we also intend to maintain a 2019 Cumulative Results and Standings thread, updated weekly, which also shows and tags each week's winners and top performers to stimulate interest and invite comments and banter.
This year we are modifying the contest entry format (see below) in order to make it easier for contestants to enter without making mistakes and to make the scoring much more efficient, more accurate and less time-consuming. However, contestants are required to post their entries using the exact format specified so that we can copy and paste it "as is" directly onto the scoring spreadsheet. In addition, to make it easier for contestants to remember to enter, the normal deadline to enter will be standardized as follows: not later than 3:00PM California time on the Wednesday prior to the first match every week. Any earlier deadlines—usually due to pre-Conference double-day tourneys-- will be prominently announced in advance.
Scoring for this season's contest:
1. One point for each correct pick in each weekly contest;
2. Ten points for winning each weekly contest;
3. Twenty points for picking every match correctly in any weekly contest; and
