The announcers are awful. All of them. Bring back Sunderland and Marlowe. Call 1-800-793-TOUR and tell them Chris and Paul sent you! Actually don’t, because the AVP probably doesn’t own that number anymore.

Kevin is borderline unbearable, always trying to make cool comment, said in his best cool voice, it's too much.

Kevin is borderline unbearable, always trying to make cool comment, said in his best cool voice, it's too much. Whatever our differences on anything else, mutual distaste for Kevin Barnett will always unite us. Its like being the same religion or something Kevin Barnett is a clown, that is why I wish Tri and travismewhirter would go all in on Sandcast and just pump out even more content leading up to the Olympics. They used to post threads for us to ask questions, but I don't think it would be negative if they posted threads looking for topics, interviews, or general improvements for content. Even if you don't have a player lined up go do a 15-20 minute interview and find a California guy who preps all the courts before an AVP stop shows up, talk to the operations manager of the AVP, the marketing person etc., find a way to fill out more episodes, or bank interviews for slow times, and trump The Net Live and build your brand for Tokyo. We talk about growing the game and getting younger kids involved, are they still doing the thing where they sponsor a player's entry fee? That could be some incentive for next year to post who it went to every tourney and remind everyone how they could be the recipient next. Go find the college kids and have them talk about their experiences, recruiting, suggestions for kids that perhaps aren't on the West Coast or Southeast Coast that get to play more often than those in the Midwest. If Travis does this right he could find himself in a position to go to Tokyo to cover the Olympics and maybe get KWJ to pay for it, shoot Tri might even be in the Olympics, even if he isn't - give access to the accounts for one of the participating athletes for IG Takeovers or do a live broadcast during the opening ceremonies. I still think Travis should do daily recaps with or without guests Thursday through Sunday on a tourney weekend, I mean not to be too critical but we just had the Granddaddy of them all and their last IG post was still July 8th. Since their last IG post they have 6 new episodes and not one of them is marketed or announced. I guess my frustration comes from the fact they are enjoyable to listen to and already have a slightly larger following than Net Live who has been around longer, in my opinion they could take off but if it is just a side hobby or they are not posting every day, and multiple times a day during events, then they just wont get as big as they could. EDIT: Just for kicks went and looked at a couple of the younger players in the game, Nourse twins have 58.4k followers on the combined account - asking to repost their interview with a download/rate/subscribe and IG follow request to their followers as well could pick up 300-500 bumps easy, Sponcil has 17k, Muno has 19k the Witt twins each have about 6k respectfully. Use these people that love the game as much as everyone else to spread the word, I can't say it enough that they need to build the brand and they have all the tools available.

not sure tri and travis would be an upgrade. i will give you travis, but tri is pretty bad at interviewing and commentary. it’s like he’s in a competition to see how much he can talk about how he used to play with hyden on the world tour
my dream broadcasting duo is doherty/lambourne

They only have 101 posted podcasts to iTunes so he could very well still be learning too but that is exactly my point, they have a brand that could be recognizable and go in a "different" direction than Net Live even though they both do beach volleyball. Rich is very good at broadcasting, not sure I have heard Doherty much but someone who was ok to listen to this past weekend was Kyle Friend.

I think Kevin's biggest asset to the AVP broadcasts IS that he's a clown. So he'll do the goofy stuff like walk around and do the man on the street segments, he'll wear the goofy outfits, he'll swing an oversized hammer and hit balls into the crowd between timeouts, etc. He's not there for the in depth analysis or strategy.
The real question is who are the producers? They're the ones giving directions to the announcers.

I would seriously pay to never see that hammer again.

I would seriously pay to never see that hammer again. They did somehow turn that goofy little segment into something a major insurance company was willing to sponsor. So if it generates revenue, not sure what the problem is. It’s certainly more entertaining than yet another promo for the latest Amazon Prime show.

I love the hammer, especially when he misses a bunch of them in a row. He popped one out of the stadium court in Hermosa - that was pretty funny! Aren't there a few well-spoken ex-players who would jump at the chance to do some commentary? Barbara Fontana and Troy Tanner? Nancy Reno and Brian Lewis? Lisa Arce and David Swatik?

Also he was hired exactly for the in depth/strategy stuff, it was just a bad hire. Perfect illustration of many weaknesses of the broadcast is Nick/Phil v Reid/Trevor match where 90% of the match they treat Nick/Phil as if they have been dominant all year instead of discussing their tailspin and how this is another manifestation thereof

G2 was that mentioned in a press release regarding Kevin's in depth stuff? Because nothing I've seen from him over the years indicates in depth analysis. Even his indoor games are usually basic stuff with some sprinkling of him talking about himself or other guys he played with in the past.

I agree he is not capable of it, but unless we assume Amazon/AVP hired no one to do it, it logically follows that it was either Cam, Kevin or Kelli and Cam was completely inexperienced
