Looks like they will no longer hide their premium content behind a paywall, at least for now. Let’s just hope they won’t eventually require a p1440 subscription to keep up on the latest volleyball news. Do you need to pay to watch this current live stream?

There just isnt a reasonable scenario that would lead to them doing that, unless the premium content model was making a lot for the current owners, and I think the refund process shows it was not. Not sure why people think one misstep, in which experts were enlisted (Leonard) means that the people who run p1440 must be morons. Both of the 2012 AVP stops are no longer AVP stops and 5 of the 7 AVP stops in 2013 are no longer AVP stops, did those initial missteps mean that the AVP would never make good decisions again? If Chicago cancels do we all say that because the AVP screwed up - and it likely wont cancel - they can never get anything right?

Buying volleyball magazine is a great idea for someone who is interested and capable of developing engaging, in-depth content, but they're most likely looking for a brand and a platform.

Hopefully the arent going to be writing content since their public pronouncements are usually very cloying, although I didnt mind Casey in the booth, but that shouldnt take away that both have been very successful in their chosen field and somewhat successful in their next. (There are many aspiring business owners that cant get any investment, much less what they garnered at p1440 - a company they are not the exclusive owners of - or even likely the majority owners of - btw)

They lost their last investor millions of dollars. Failure in a business isn't definite proof of incompetence, but it's certainly not an indicator of competence or success.

Does Volleyball Mag close The Net Live now? or just take its soundboard back? Kevin Barnett announced on this week's show that The Net Live will indeed be permanently closing at the end of the year. His explanation was that the show has run its course and that he wanted to move onto other projects. But given the timing, it's hard to imagine that p1440 taking over as the main sponsor of the podcast wasn't a factor. I guess Casey got the last laugh on this one.

Kerri and Casey aren't running the DTD operations. The volleyballmag staff isn't going anywhere, they came over too. I would like to see a vision and mission statement to fully understand where they are going.

No it isnt, but they have not failed at business. They had a poor year and made a bunch of mistakes and lost some money. Thats hardly unprecedented and they arent out of business yet nor is there any indication they are teetering on the brink.

Well, of course they failed at business. We witnessed it. Failure doesn't mean that they can't try again, or pivot, or do better next time, but I'm certain it caused the Mays to take a serious look at their strategy.

Pretty sure Net Live was started and funded by Reid over the years. I can’t imagine it costs much to put on nowadays so maybe the hosts are tired of doing it and want to move on to other things. I’m not sure the p1140 stuff has anything to do with it.

You could tell their interest just was not there anymore and they really failed at capitalizing on the boom of live steaming and podcasting the last couple year in the fact that Sandcast passed them with followers extremely quick and until recently I don't think they did a very good job at marketing themselves either. With Sandcast having the backing of 1440 it only makes sense that they funding will be there to have better equipment, and with Tri and Travis being more relatable to the younger up and coming players common sense would tell you they can only grow. I know I have said it a few times, but it would great to see Travis (and Tri) doing more content when they are not practicing or after they have been elminated from events. Just start bringing the sound board and mic's with you everywhere.
