I'm going to make this quick. Very, very tired.
*Gordon had the last 4 kills in game 5. Two tips for points 13 and 14 and then a thunderous bomb for the match.
*Tennessee was very impressive in games 1 and 2. They were really clicking.
*But it all caught up to them from game 3 on. They still can't seem to block a slide to save their lives. OSU's middles just tore them apart. Meyer was smacking the ball, at least, but Mapp was putting a lot of mi%*$#s away. She'd throw in a missile every once in a while, but it was weird how effective she was with what she was hitting.
*Morris was great on defense, but she ABSOLUTELY could not find the floor on offense. This really hurt Tennessee. After a while, they were pretty much just Piantadosi. Not enough offense to make up for the fact OSU was outdigging them.
*OSU hit .324 for the match! C'mon, Vols! That's not going to do it.
*I thought Tennessee did a nice job on Gordon. 35-11-76 .316 is pretty impressive, but I bet the Gophers will take that. Unfortunately, look at the others: Mapp--.350, Meyer--.419, Stevens--.308. (Btw, why don't they set McCarthy more?)
*Stevens continues to impress me. For a frosh to handle as many serves as she does, on a team that REALLY needs someone besides Gordon to pass, is amazing. I would have picked her over Price for FOY, fwiw. Note that Gordon is now OSU's L2. This makes sense, since they can use her from the backrow, but this does not work if Stevens is not up to the task. She is.
*A great match. I'm glad I got to see Morris and Piantadosi (and Andre and Stoyanova and Buggs and Blum). It was fun.
*Congrats to the Buckeyes for rising from the mat and taking this one the distance.
