Georgia Tech is going to have some serious rebuilding the next few years graduating Sauer, Moster, Gergen, Kuhn and Aston. That is pretty much all the offense except for their freshman German kid. Lindsay Gray is Ok but she is no Moster or Sauer. Now we will see what kind of coach Bond really is when he has to develop his own talent...

Unless this has been beaten this year, (I'm checking)
This is a record.
The old one for a game was: 46—San Jose St. vs. Fresno St., Nov. 3, 2001 (46-44)

It hasn't. I already covered this. The highest scoring game this year in DI was 43 - 41.

Now we will see what kind of coach Bond really is when he has to develop his own talent... Unless he takes another coaching job (as is being discussed on another thread)!

Minnesota missed the Five-game match in rally scoring era total points scored record by 3.
Old record is 149—Marquette vs. Duke, Aug. 30, 2003 (28-30, 33- 31, 32-34, 39-37, 17-15)

You may recall the Rollshot profile of Sauer, Bond sat there and smiled the whole time during our home visit. And how about Abby Showers, Jen Randall, Lindsey Laband? We've got Allie & Callie coming, plus a few more. Bond will be back.

Incredible match! Very proud of our five seniors. Congratulations and good luck to the Gophers the rest of the way.

Portuguese needs Hooked on Phonics. How does "Gentil" become "GymShoe?" ;D What about English? How does "Phonics" become "fawnix"? Maybe Brasilia and America can exchange copies of H.O.P. for christmas.

The thing I like about GTech is how they run the offense....very fast and risky. I didn't get to see them this year, but seeing the style of play last year was refreshing.

Just got home from the match, had a bit of traffic plus I needed to stop at ye olde grocery store on the way home. Box score from the Gopher site: www.gophersports.com/sports/game_stats.asp?event_id=6038&sport_id=wvollRecap from the Gopher site: Very classy comments from Bond and Lynette in the writeup. www.gophersports.com/sportsNews/press_release.asp?news_id=9912&sport_id=wvollSome observations: Paula was wearing a back support (on of those big black neoprene / rubber type things around her lower back and was getting electrical stimulation to her back at the same time from one of those tens (sp?) units. Not sure about her limping I didn't see that overly much, she just slam her body around quite a bit when going for digs. The play where she injured her wrists was on a rocket shot from by Lauren Sauer that deflected off Paula's hands into the stands. Lauren and Lynette both had ~8 kills after 3 games. Somewhere in the 4th Lauren became pretty much unstoppable whenever GT got a good pass / dig to Lindsey Laband. Lynette started picking up kills later in the 5th as well. It was largely on her service that they made their comeback from 28-23 in the 4th game. It was fun seeing the big smiles on pretty much all of the players (and coaches) of both teams as the 4th game continued into the 40's. The Gophers ran out of subs well before the end of the 4th game. The went through something like 12+ service rotations with Lisa Reinhart being the L2 because she had been subbed into the back row for Tree Bratford using their last sub. Which means that they held off GT from winning the 4th game with Lisa rotating through the front row 2 full times and Erin Martin was handling defensive chores in the back row at the same time. Lots of long rallies throughout the match. I don't see the Gophers get outdug in many matches which happened against GT 114-113. One thing I think probably caught GT off guard was how well Lindsey Taatjes was hitting in the match. It was another of those matches where you pretty much hate seeing either team lose. We actually saw two of those in the Minneapolis region tonight.

That game 4 was really something.
Jesus H. Christ I was in the Sports Pavilion from 4:45-10:45!!! That's a lot of volleyball!!
It was a fun match, I really thought it would be over when it was 28-23 in game 4, but I guess things happen. Moster had a nice run on her serve. Gutsy performance by the Gophers.
I have a history of watching tremendous college athletes in their final matches. Hopefully I can add Stacey Gordon to that long list tomorrow evening!!
