The FIVB has added the first tournaments of 2020 into their database. The dates have not yet been published on their website, still you can already find them on my website. They have a small error though: Ostrava is actually a double gender tournament. 12ndr.at/fivb?season=2020

Noteworthy: Currently they added 7/6 (m/w) 4* tournaments. Additionally 1 5* tournament should take place in Italy (Milano?) before the Olympic qualification deadline. Additionally it will be interesting which of the contenders will travel to the 4/3 (m/w) 3* tournaments.

Further 5* and 4* tournaments have been added.

Very disappointed that Fort Lauderdale wasn't reinstated. I still have a credit for my airfare from this year's canceled tournament.

I would assume most teams will be over in that Singapore, China, China swing of 4* April 15 through May 3rd. That would be a brutal trip trying to make it to Itapema 3 days later for the next 4*.

9 4* and a 5* between now and Olympic Qualification deadline? Woah.... It’s anyone’s game at this point.

Alternatively they can choose one or the other.

I’m pretty sure partnerships were already locked.

9 4*??
I see for the women, (7) 4* remaining, (1) 5*, and (4) 3* --
3* Quinzhou (2019) Sydney Jumala Jinxiang
4* Chetumal (2019) Cancun Singapore Yangzhou Xiamen Itapema Ostrava
5* Italy
This race is still has a third remaining... a LOT can happen. Only the A-Team are safe. Should be a real fight between KWJ/BS and Slaes.
It could come down to that 5* (the first week of July I presume).

First week of July?
The 5* event in June in Italy will be the last event to count towards Olympics qualification points. Cutoff date is June 15th, 2020, the day right after Rome 5*.
I counted (9) 4* events including Chetumal.

This gives Hughes/Summer also a good chance again (assuming that none of the tournaments will be cancelled). They have a 1st, a 3rd and a 4th at 4* tournaments and a 5th at the WC. So they are not out of it if they can outperform the other US teams.

Yes, I see that is true. I had given 2S so little chance as to not discuss it, but that was when I thought there were only (3) 3*, and (6) 4*, with no 5*
The extra one each of 5*, 4*, and 3* that I had not counted on previously makes a huge difference in a team that was injured, but showed a high average finish when healthy. to close the gap on KWJ/BS and Slaes.

This year Warsaw fell a few days after the June 15 deadline, and Moscow even later. We're talking about tournaments that fall within the olympic qualification period.
