Not really one of the HAVES in college athletics without a major Division 1 football program let alone any football program Not to mention the fact that these positions don't really have much to contribute at the moment. Should be able to get pretty close to current salary on the enhanced unemployment. You really are "just a hick" if you don't think those positions contribute much right now.

I suppose it depends on the school, but based on the schools I have contact with, the AT's are doing 0, strength coaches doing virtually 0 (home programs are written, summer programs are written, not much check in happening). DOVO's are either busy or doing nothing depending on how well they did their jobs in January and February and the budget situation at the school. We are are currently not allowed to spend, fall equipment is ordered, travel is ready to go. DOVO is doing very little important work.

You are correct with AT’s not having much to do remotely but you are grossly understating the value strength coaches (the only coaches who can have contact with athletes after CARA hours are up, many D2 schools aren’t allowing these hours at ALL). You think DOVO’s are just ordering things? 🤔. How about help with social media pages and content for these? This is a lifeline to recruiting even more so in today’s climate.

Forgot that some DOVOs run the social media. Our social media runs through ACs and the SIDs. When campuses are closed to students, strength coaches don't have any significant contact with the students. Plenty of CARA hours for coaches through April. After that, strength coaches can only supervise optional workouts (supposedly for safety) - I don't see that translating very well remotely.

Strength coaches are not allowed to run live remote sessions. The interpretation that we go is that if any sort of physical activity is being organized, there must be a CPR-certified coach present. Since that is impossible now, any type of live physical workout is prohibited.

Always interesting to see where schools try to find an edge in situations like this.

Great coach, even better person. He is a true definition of a winner in every aspect of his life and I wish him nothing but the best in retirement. However, this is a message board and we all like to speculate, so... is this going to create any movement?? He had 4 other bananas and 1 mango helping him out, but if what I heard is true they were all volunteer. So I did some quick research, one is a fairly recent graduate of Rockhurst who has been helping out for awhile, and he also coaches with a top club in the area as well as being the clubs college recruiting coordinator. Seems to have had success with Rockhurst as well as with club. Another is from the area, a little older, and has coached as a full time gig in the past, working with men and women at NAIA (was also an interim head coach for a hot second) and has worked at another regional program for a few seasons, all successful seasons, also had success at high school and club level. These would seem to be the 2 internal candidates, the others are... unique? One is a Doctor that graduated from Rockhurst, don't think he would take that pay cut, the other is a retired teacher who also coaches at a high school in the area and has had a ton of success in the high school and club ranks, and lastly is the mango who just graduated from a rival university. Not sure how COVID will effect the search for a head coach if at all, since they are private they don't have to open up a search correct? In a normal coaching change season I would think this would be a job a lot of people would be going for, a long history of success and in a volleyball hot bed.
