Economics is math, sociology and politics all wrapped up into one. it was the only honors class offered in our grade so i took it. didn’t realize how boring and confusing it was It can be a tough subject for a lot of people. There are a lot of terms and hypotheses to understand and memorize, and often-times, it's possible to make arguments for both sides of an issue. It can be frustrating or boring for some because they want some definite answers or solutions. But, economics affects almost every part of everyone's life in some way or another, and most people end up approaching it from a specific personal perspective (liberal vs conservative, free market vs mixed or interventionist, etc.)

Economics? Is that the one about money? Or the one about how to design things to make people more comfy and cozy so that they work harder for their boss?

Economics is math, sociology and politics all wrapped up into one. it was the only honors class offered in our grade so i took it. didn’t realize how boring and confusing it was The basics of it is not that hard to understand. You have demand and supply curves and equilibrium. Increased demand translate into increase prices. Increased supply without corresponding demand decrease prices. They you have fiscal and monetary policies, which affects interest rates, inflation, stagflation and so on. Then you have basic theories about how countries should specialized in goods that they have a comparative advantage in. Then micro and macro economics. More advanced level economics requires a lot of math and formulas, but the foundational principles is not that that hard to grasp I think. You got the ideological element between 100% free market folks like Friedrich Hayek, Joseph Schumpeter and his "creative destruction", how innovation will overturn established firms or Milton Friedman who all advocated for non-intervention in the market place. On the other side you got folks like John Maynard Keynes who advocated for active government intervention to correct imbalances of the market, Joseph Stiglitz who is a critic of the laissez-faire approach and Paul Krugman, who is a free trade advocate yet is also a Keynesian. So the basic ideas in economics is not hard to understand I think.

The most important thing to realize about economics is that very few economists are billionaires. Kind of like how no doctor has ever lived forever.

why is it hard to find a roommate when going to out of state school? Go random. It can be surprisingly fun and you'll meet people that way. Anyone posting on Facebook or any other board is probably bending the truth a bit to make themselves sound better. Also, the type of people you meet based on a Facebook post probably don't have as deep of a connection to you as you might want.

When I was a teenager (around age 16-17), most of my questions were about:
- sex (and hence, girls) - how things work (e.g., refrigerator, automobile, rockets, lawnmowers) - relativity
It was NEVER about
- economics - roommates - siblings - scholarships
I'm not judging. I'm just saying people are different.
