I think an experienced MB is a must. The potential young talent at MB is so intriguing with Ames, Singleterry, Bunton, and maybe Byrd. But MB is such a tough position to play early. If Coach Elliott can get a top libero from the portal I think you do that as well. Halter and Akana are a terrific twosome, and Emerick and Ramirez can certainly contribute as freshmen, but I think if you can make the defense and serve-receive even stronger you do that. I'm ready with torches and pitchforks if Byrd is moved to the middle. Last I heard is you have Harvey 2025 as well. How many MBs does Texas need.

We’ll see about Harvey. I hope so. But late recruitments invariably go Stanford’s way once they clear the admissions process.

I think Texas will get a libero/defensive specialist and an opposite from the portal. Texas has had success recently with libero transfers starting with O’Brien leading us to a runner up finish. And Fleck and Barnes winning the championship. I can’t see him letting two walk ons in Brennan and Reese seeing the court their freshman year. And I can’t see him letting Wenaas play 6 rotations. I also think we’re getting an opposite. Byrd and Helmers injuries seem pretty serious. And then Lauenstein likes almost every Texas volleyball post. And then her following Jerritt, Aundrea, Cursty, Ella, Madi, and Asjia means there has to be some interest from her or vice versa. I don’t think he’s getting a middle or setter with Swindle’s performance. Helmers has been back. Jordyn's injury is newer. helmers has just started working out recently not sure if it's with the team though (she posted an ig story recently saying she was out for 6 months & now just starting to workout again)

Ugh I want to know what Molly showed Madi during that visit that made her change her mind??? She was DEAD SET on no Texas…we have some persuasive people in the program.

From her interviews - and we’re never going to get the full story, nor are we entitled to it - she didn’t want to come back to the state of Texas like her sister did. She was looking to go somewhere else. Elliott’s first sales job was simply getting her on a visit to simply take a look around and see what Texas had to offer. She grew up in a VERY strong Baylor household in an area dominated by Aggies. She wouldn’t even have to be anti Texas. Just mildly prejudiced with preconceived notions and not really aware of the resources available. From what she’s said that’s what shocked her the most. She was blown away by how much more Texas had to offer in the way of resources and support than she anticipated. You can tell how much she’s loved her experience. There has never been a question in her mind she was coming back for her Covid year. We’re very blessed to have her as fans of the team. She’s obviously remarkable on the court - the best player in the country - but she’s an incredible spokesperson. I’m blown away with her level of professionalism in interviews - as long as you’re not asking her about Swindle’s improvement over the course of the year, that is.

I guess I’d say if Gabriel had been 6’3 Texas would be 2021 national champions (spring). That’s not fair to Kentucky because they were an amazing team, but I think Gabriel was actually really good. She was just 5’6 and really good. Kentucky absolutely abused her on the front row. I also think SKT was an elite college setter. The goal is to win national championships. Not the smoothest setter award. I guess all I’m trying to say is that Texas needs a setter that is elite enough to be recognized as a First team AA. When was the last time we had that? We had the same issue at libero for the longest time until Fleck. I think Halter has potential to be a 1st team AA hopefully by her Junior or Senior year, so JE has made progress there but not so much for our setters..yet. Swindle is great and holding up fine, and like an earlier poster said, with the pins we recruit we don’t necessarily need the flashiest or best setter, but I sure would love one that has the capability to be first team. You say Texas "needs" an elite 1st-team All-American Setter... but their sitting on back-to-back National Championships with SKT and Swindle. So, do they actually need one?

What on earth did she say when asked about Swindle's improvement that wasn't professional? She just mis-understood the question and talked about her own improvement. I saw where she was coming from
