I like this photo of Mari on the attack: that arm looks like it's about to fall straight into the top of the net on the follow through....but it might just be the camera angle.

I have long worried about the glaring lack of 2021 recruits, but now with the eligibility circus of 2020, I am not so sure. Anyone care to theorize on how—or whether—C19 will bail the Longhorn roster out of a jam? Or if there will be enough transfer fallout to sneak up on some great players? Or if Elliot just has some super secret recruit that will commit at the absolute last minute? Lol.

Prior to this eligibility extension announcment, our 2021 (deferred 2020) class was going to consist of Melanie Parra and Adhuoljok Malual (super secret signee, as it turned out), and a possible redshirted Madison Williams. Now, all three could be ready to play in January 2021 (maybe sooner for Madi) and remain in the 2020 signing class.
Honestly, even prior to this possible deferred 2020 season, I wasn't counting on Parra and Malual to arrive in January 2021, despite the official release put out by Texas. There are just so many uncertainties in the world as it pertains to the pandemic. If one of them can get here in January, I'll consider it a bonus.
I can't even put my hands around future roster numbers until all these unknowns about the upcoming season are solidified.
But, for the 2022 recruiting class, still hoping we can land MB Amaya Thomas and couple of players out West which we're targeting.

2022 class scholarships likely impacted by any juniors that decide to return that year. Our 2022 class that JE was working could dwindle down to a couple of players. If Logan & Brionne want to return you say "hell yes"! On the flip side the 2023 class may have more scholarships available.

Considering Brionne enrolled early at Texas in January 2017, and then redshirted the 2017 season, that would mean she'd be a student-athlete at Texas for like 6 whole years?

Yeah I don't think she will stay that long considering she can go overseas and make a grip of money with her skill set.

Or was that only for the 2021-2022 school year? And I definitely see Brionne and Logan coming back for 2022. Logan can get an MBA and Brionne can get her masters as well, all paid for.

What I was told by other fans was that it resets after the 2021-2022 school year. So when Logan and Brionne and the rest of the class return for 2022 their scholarship will count toward the scholarship limit so they will need to figure how to work the money with the 2022 recruits. Since we have no 2021 recruits it doesn't affect any players we have. I could see Jerrit only letting Logan and Brionne come back if they decide they want to and let the rest of the junior class move on with their lives.

I don’t know what kind of student Brionne is...but I hope every single adviser in her camp pushes her to get both and undergraduate and graduate degree in that six years. She will undoubtedly still have wonderful opportunities to play professionally, and her marketability post-volleyball will be better.

I guess it will all depend on whether or not she wants to just go pro or stay in school for an extra year. Logan on the other hand is kind of a wait and see because she is a great student and had college credit in high school so she might complete everything before the fall of 2022 but imo based on her personality and the way she carries herself she seems to love Texas and can possibly stay another year.

Without any "extra" eligibility, 2022 roster would have looked like:
Frosh. - Emma Halter, Marianna Singletary Soph. - A. Malual, Melanie Parra Jrs. - Madison Williams, Nalani Iosia, Naomi Cabello Srs. - Asjia O'Neal, Skylar Fields, Molly Phillips
So, at the moment, room for probably two more 2022 recruits. IMO, you have to continue your recruiting efforts as if you don't expect any of our current juniors to be on the roster in two seasons.
