it was mendelson. baskeball rules are that 23's could start having regular contact with coaches on Sept 1 of this year and official's can't start for basketball until April 1. So, as a 2023 recruit, she could currently take an official visit as a guest of the volleyball program; but, not as a guest of the hoops team.
NCAA so strange to have a 7-month delay in allowing 2023 basketball recruits to begin taking official visits as compared to 2023 volleyball recruits when the hoops season starts (November) like only 2.5 months after the volleyball season starts (August). Guess it has to do with volleyball being considered a Fall sport, while hoops is considered a Winter sport.

Yeah. The rules are totally different. It’s weird. Also have the old rules of recruit can call coaches but coaches can’t call recruits.

These type of rules typically reflect the desires of the coaching community in each sport and how much they push for specific rules for their sport. The general recruiting timing varies by sport which contributes to the different calendars.

Raoul does a really great job tweeting about girls' hoops recruiting, visits, offers, commitments, transfers, etc.
Whether he has a true source that Mendelson visited Texas recently or he's just picking it up from here or hornfans.com remains to be seen . . .

Lol he definitely has his sources. Probably the most informed person out there when it comes to recruiting. His website is absolutely amazing when it comes to recruiting and available scholarships for each team. Texas basketball has one more scholarship to give before we hit the 15 limit in the 2022 class. One of our current post will be using her covid year which makes us at one available.

Just for the removal of any doubt, here's a pic from Friday's match of the recruit who was on the Texas bench pre-match. Forgive me for the sideways nature of the picture but I only have so many hours to try to figure out how to post a picture properly !!!!!

View AttachmentYeah, I figured if Mendelson was spotted at the (11 AM) football game on Saturday, she most likely had flown to Austin on Friday; so, might has well have come in early enough to attend Friday evening's volleyball match against TCU.

I love the these new recruits. They have big aspirations and it's uplifting that they believe that Texas will get them to that next level.

Texas has all the tools, support, and background for these athletes to thrive. We really hope for the best for them.
