I feel like this creates more problems than it solves Not for her tho. Her and Vander Wal both are 25's and rn it looks like Vander Wal is looking to be a very good well rounded player. Instead of delaying a year of learning and getting better from college coaching potentially puts her a year of development above Vander Wal (or even just a tad bit better at most things). she gets the nod when its time for Vander Wal to come challenge her. it just creates too much of a mess for 2024 imo. Devin, Byrd, Thompkinson, Skinner, Wenaas, Miller, Helmers and Spears??? It’s a no from me |

Yeah I rather for her to come in 2025 I just don’t see the point of her reclassifying

Not a big fan of players reclassifying in general. Eggkeston was obviously a spectacular exception. I know of others, too. But It’s one thing to come in the spring. It’s quite another to forgo your entire senior year. My main reason is the physical maturation process, especially by the time you’re in your fourth or fifth year of college. That additional year of playing one year older is a big advantage in all kinds of ways.
Of course we’re now going to get comments about how Spears reclassified the same way I just answered someone last week about Asjia O’Neal not being on scholarship. People speculate or throw out a joke, and folks who read it who don’t understand the context pass it forward like a game of Telephone. But it’s all good.
This is certainly not something I’m interested in manifesting. Whatever Spears wants I want at the end of the day, but my biggest desire at this point is that she plays her senior year of high school and then comes to Austin in the spring.

did anyone watch spears' high school (prestonwood christian academy) play on friday on espnu...so spears' teammate kennedy washington 6'0 middle, class of '24 has decommitted from san diego...she's talented...if you did not get a chance to watch the cathedral catholics (ca) vs prestonwood christian, the match is on demand on espn app...you can watch spears, livings (mb '27) & washington '24...lots of other great players in general...we need middles in '24 & '25

Her parents have been really good at making sure she takes her time and not rushing things, it would seem out of character to forgo her senior year. There's other things in life outside of volleyball, she should enjoy high school |
