Genevieve Harris (5’11, NC VB Academy) Isabelle Hoppe (5’9, Pittsburgh Elite) Mallory Matheny (5’11, Mintonette) Blair Thiebaud (5’11, Houston Skyline) Are all 2026 setters that Texas seems to be interested in surprised no Rayna Christianson she’s also going and is a 6’2 setter who can destroy the ball too She’s a Northern Lights girl right? Would Minnesota really let her get away?

With their freshman setter being so good and ellery Deboer and Kaelyn Bjorklund in the class right after rayna i was hoping they could spare her although rayna could easily go D1 for her hitting and blocking too so im not sure

I assume Henley Anderson. We also need a setter. Who are the top ones in the '26 class? Genevieve Harris (5’11, NC VB Academy) Isabelle Hoppe (5’9, Pittsburgh Elite) Mallory Matheny (5’11, Mintonette) Blair Thiebaud (5’11, Houston Skyline) Are all 2026 setters that Texas seems to be interested in I hope they look at Danielle Whitmire as well; she's underrated in my opinion.

I mean what are the odds JE risks it and goes for a 2027 instead? Cause they seem to be looking at Marissa Jones too

Not trying to stir the pot, or crap on Murray or Nebraska VB.. but out of genuine curiosity as someone who is a coach but not a parent.. if a star athlete from a program who is supposed to be one of the eventual leaders/role models for the program gets into these kind of predicaments, does this make future prospects and their parents reconsider picking Nebraska? I haven’t heard parents discuss it but that’s probably because I coach middle school, but I imagine this would be a concern for some parents who have a junior or soph who might be considering Nebraska would want someone like HM having an influence on their kids.

Ehhhhhhhh it seems like a personal issue, not a programmatic one. It's not like Nebraska athletics didn't give her enough love or support. If anything, the criticism on VT seems to be that NU has been too accommodating

Nebraska hasn't exactly epitomized positive team culture in recent years.

I didn't say they were falling off a cliff or didn't have anything else to offer. But... Have they lost any big time recruits recently? Have they gotten every top recruit who would have been their first choice? Have they retained every player in the program?

I hardly thing Texas getting some top recruits over Nebraska is symptomatic of anything other than the fact that Texas is an elite volleyball program in a cool city at a great school and is currently meeting the moment.

All factors play a role. How much each means to which recruit or current player on their roster is undetermined. Does Texas have 2 championships without Madi Skinner being unhappy at Kentucky and falling in love with Texas? Do they have one without Akana and Caffey leaving Nebraska in dubious cultural circumstances? Do they have one without Logan Eggleston leading the team through turmoil and controversy? The difference between winning a National Championship and not could be a slim as one player being happy or unhappy with their current team and one recruit liking or not liking what's going on around a program. The margins are that slim.

I hardly thing Texas getting some top recruits over Nebraska is symptomatic of anything other than the fact that Texas is an elite volleyball program in a cool city at a great school and is currently meeting the moment. Also, it's challenging for Nebraska to sell early playing time. They're a victim of past recruiting domination to some extent. They beat Texas on Campbell Flynn, that's for sure. I think there's some projection going on regarding Nebraska's alleged recruiting woes. Texas is riding an incredible wave and I'm here for it, but Nebraska has made 2 of the last 3 national championships, just brought in Landfair and Blackwell through the portal, just hosted a world record event in all of women's sports for their volleyball team, is the best travelling fan base in the sport, that also helps make Nebraska the most viewed volleyball program in the country, has the most robust NIL support, etc. etc.. They've had a few transfers out who weren't going to get playing time anyway, and they have a star player who has had a couple of run ins with law enforcement. But I think we're making it out to be a leeeetle more than what it really is. This isn't Nebraska football, after all.
