Almost every Thanksgiving since I've been a kid: Great! Four days off from school/work! I'm going to do so much stuff! Thurs: Well, it's Thanksgiving. Obviously not doing stuff today. I have three more days. Fri: A day to relax after Thanksgiving. Eat leftovers. Sleep. Etc. Sat: Hmmm. Still haven't done all that stuff. I'll do a tiny bit of it, but there's always tomorrow. Sun: Don't feel like doing stuff. In fact, it's been so many days since I did stuff that I forget how to do stuff. Mon: Oh crap. So you and I got about as much done as each other.

I've never been a procrastinator because I get very excited about new projects, homework assignments, etc. so I always start early until I burn up all that initial energy. By the time the novelty wears off, I'm practically done.
I also treated SATs, GREs, etc. as projects so I started studying for those really early. I took lots of sample exams because they were fun and addictive.
