bwf2,...you have done a tremendous job previewing the teams for 2020 in the Big West Conference. Of course, I must disagree with your 2nd place finish for the CAL POLY Lady'Stangs. POLY will be a better team in 2020. If, for no other reason there will be no player surprises. We are who we are,...17 eligible competitors. Haha, I'm not sure how you can say there will be no surprises. Isn't that what makes them surprises? Regardless, it's going to be an exciting season for Poly.

Torrey Van Winden not playing for CAL POLY all season was a big surprise. We don't need more of those particular surprises. CAL POLY rode through some very rough times in 2019. It also made the returners a tougher group for 2020.

CAL POLY recruited four true freshman in 2019,...three played one redshirted.
POLY lost five seniors in 2019.
Net return (as we speak) start of 2020,...13.
Amy Hiatt, 6'3 OH, who redshirted,...where will she fit into the scheme? Has she gained enough experience to compete?

However, I was more surprised on how well the team responded to Walters as the head coach. The coaching staff did a great job molding the team and putting them in a position to overcome the loss of TVW. I thought the coach should have been the conferences coach of the year.

Two of her Rage club teammates have also committed to Cal Poly.
2020 Kate Slack 6-3 MB
2021 Annabelle Thalken 6-3 Opp/Setter
Just passing it along.

Thalken is easily the most talented/ skilled out of those 3 players from Sac Rage.

I guess it's official,...posted on CAL POLY's web. Chen Abramovich will be a Lady'Stang in the Fall of 2020. A native of Isreal, Chen will compete for the libero/DS playing time as a RSoph. Whatever her reasons for transferring,...San Luis Obispo and the Central Coast of Calif. is a far cry from Lincoln, NE. www.gopoly.com/sports/wvball/2019-20/releases/20200424pbjm6u

Thalken is easily the most talented/ skilled out of those 3 players from Sac Rage. She may have an edge in terms of physicality but I don’t know that skill-wise she’s ahead of the others. Pretty sure the plan is to redshirt her in 2021 to work on refining some of what’s still raw. She definitely has great length and the advantage of being a lefty on the right.

I edit my "skilled" comment. Defenitely the highest ceiling. I do think it's great that these 3 young ladies are staying together so they will have done chemistry going in. It should help Cal Poly in the long run!

good enough to be recruited to Nebraska so that’s pretty solid.

Time will tell. Given that they are all different ages, I doubt these players have ever played together, but maybe there’s some cameraderie from being from the same club and area. The Jason Borchin—NCVC-Rage pipeline continues.
