I'm not gonna pretend like I've seen St John's or Rice lately. The only time I saw St John's this year was when they were at Hawaii. At this point we all know about the recent wins against Creighton and Marquette but can anyone speak to how they look? I'll just share with you what I posted before the St. John's / Marquette match: I'm always a fan of highly erratic teams. St. John's fits that category. Matches against those types of teams always end up stressful. Can't really tell ya much more than that. If Di Maulo, Alexakou, Rastelli are all on the Johnnies can beat a lot of teams in the country. Di Maulo is very good -- but she can also be erratic and St. John's has at times brought in a 6-2 when not playing well. Rastelli is definitely erratic. Alexakou is a powerful international outside who always brings it. Backrow shaky though (again, Erratic!) I love #Erratic Teams!

Looking at best wins for each of these teams this is going to be a very competitive sub-region.
Texas A&M - Kentucky, Missouri, Georgia, South Carolina (2), Oklahoma, Pepperdine, Texas St.
St. John's - Creighton, Marquette, Villanova, Oregon
Oklahoma - Iowa St, Georgia Tech, Arizona St, SMU
Rice - Texas, UCF, Texas St., Ole Miss

I always get confused: College Park, College Station, University Park College Station is nothing like the others.

Feel like it’s hard to gauge how good Rice is.

Texas A&M is 12-1 at home this season, and all teams have had a hard time slowing down Hans this season. If Patterson (MB), Rush (OPP), and Davis (OH) can all play extremely intentionally this weekend, then A&M should make it out of this weekend.
Looking forward to these matches tonight! This is definitely the toughest sub-regional in my opinion.

If Rice can keep in system in serve receive and keep their middles available they can hang with the best in the country. I don't think OU has the serving quality to keep the Rice middles out of the match. St. John's rover defense can frustrate any team that's not familiar with it (and I don't think A&M has seen rover defense this season) but A&m's solid serve receive and defense as well as their aggressive setter should find the holes in their defense.

What is a rover defense? I've never heard that term.
