She started as a true freshman and for 1.5 seasons total before losing her starting spot midway through her sophomore season.

Ashley Shook from Texas now in the portal. Yeah, someone posted a while back that she would graduate this December (after 3.5 years in school). Congrats to her on getting her degree from Texas, and best of luck if she wants to play volleyball elsewhere as a grad-transfer.

She's been a loyal Texas player, even after losing her job.
Kinda odd timing. She played tonight and I could see her in the huddle talking to her teammates about some technical point during a timeout. It's odd to be in the portal AND actively playing for your current team? Or was tonight her last game? I guess you get in the portal to start advertising and negotiating with your future schools. Especially if they'll give her a scholarship to pay for grad school.

I agree that it is definitely interesting timing and you think that it would be declared before this run would start but in reality it wasn’t confirmed that plans for this spring until recently. Now she probably has to put more effort into finding out what’s next and time is ticking. Not even sure who would need another setter

Shook has been planning to graduate early before this season. It’s not any news that she’d be graduating early. I’m excited for her if she can get a graduate degree and get it paid for via a volleyball scholarship.

Some quick thoughts on tonight's game against KU.
1) Big 12 schools are catching up to the recruiting and play of Texas in terms of the block. Usually we outblock other schools by a big margin. OU and KU were pretty close to us in total blocks during a game.
2) But on the flip side, the new players are vastly improving the backrow defense as well as passing. Not 100%, but going from a C- to a B. And, the new players are having a positive effect on Peterson. Her digs and passes are the best (small sample size) in her 3 years I've seen her
3) The arms of our OH seemed "average". Molly did not have a heavy arm tonight.
4) But our defense, especially tonight's tip digs were really great. You could tell they spent a lot of time on that since the OU game
5) Man, KU's passing tonight was like previous-years-bad-Texas level of passing. So many balls too tight to the net and the setter trying to fix it. NET VIOLATION!
You think Logan and Skylar’s arms are ‘average’? I wouldn’t say Molly has a ‘heavy arm’ ever hitting from right side, but she swings high and is low error. She puts up a good block.

Not even sure who would need another setter According to how I read the NCAA announcement for fall sports, she wouldn't be able to play elsewhere this spring. Wouldn't be eligible to play anywhere else until fall 2021. I don't think the timing means anything. It's already been reported that she is leaving Texas after this season when she graduates. She is reportedly a very good student so she's likely looking for a good grad program and also a good volleyball opportunity. You don't wait until the last minute to start that process.

As I read the rule, she wouldn't be eligible to play somewhere else in the spring because she wasn't at that school in the fall.
