She was a competent up official, really knew her job, she'll be missed by Hawaii and BWC fanbase.

So someone posted on the Facebook group, University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine Volleyball Fans that Aunty Denise has passed away. Everyone that follows either the UH men's or women's Volleyball matches would know about her. Denise Hansen, RIP. 💕💕💕 Here's the link to that post. www.facebook.com/groups/uhwvb/permalink/3630694930311365/One of the best. RIL Aunty Denise. I remember when I was playing in club vb and we were at McKinley in an Aloha region tournament and after a few points, she had to teach some of the players how to keep score. She just grabbed the scoresheet and told the two dudes, this is how you keep score. I rolled my eyes because I thought everybody playing in club vb should know how to keep score. She looked at us and from that stoic mean face look, she just had the biggest grin and giggle. Rest in Aloha, Aunty.

RIP Denise Hansen. The Best Volleyball Referee ever in Hawaii. Whether at the 1, or 2 position. No opposing coach had a conflict with any of her calls, not even the retired LBSU Head Coach Brian G. Will truly miss her refereeing a Hawaii Volleyball match. This is just my opinion.

R.I.P I remember Hansen from last 2019 season watching Hawaii matches. While other replay reviews seemed to take awhile, Hansen was a no non-sense type of referee with the reviews. Very sad news.

There are whispers that the Wahine have gotten another international recruit who hasn't been mentioned yet. It's not clear if this is a 2021 or 2022 recruit. She reminds me of a senior Mckenna Ross with more hitting range, jump serve, and international playing experience.

She's not really known for her hitting, I'm comparing her to Ross because of her noteworthy passing ability. I guess we'll have to wait and see if she really does join the Wahine.

Would the UH coaching award a scholarship to an OH who is not at least a decent hitter? If she is not known for her hitting, then she is essentially a libero or DS. If she is said to he one of the best passer in Europe, then maybe a scholarship would be worthy but I’m not sure awarding a player who is just an average hitter a scholarship is a smart move.
