I'm happy to see Davis come to Texas, but I'm not putting too many expectations for her. We'll see how she flourishes in our program when she was clearly not happy at Nebraska's and if she finds a starting role.

It's official! Capri Davis transfers to Texas!!! This is so big! Nebraska is so crazy for not giving her playing time because she is a great player. I wonder if she will be given a redshirt or would she be a junior? She will be transferring to Texas in January so she must have really wanted out of Nebraska. It's good for Texas because she will play in the spring season which is always good for team chemistry as well as fixing everything that didn't work in the 2019. All in all im very excited about the 2020 season and this is a big grab🤘🏽 The spin from the other side is: 1) well best wishes 2) now that frees up a scholarship for the 2020 class to go get Sophie Fischer, who is an ex-commit to North Carolina but players are (once again) fleeing that program. 3) and Fischer will shore up their thin MB position
Thinking about this and the irony of the Sun and Davis "swap". When Sun left, her scholarship opened up and Logan Eggleston was/is a smart cookie and wondered if she could graduate high school
early and take up that empty scholarship, which she did! (her mom was her high school guidance counselor as well). So, I call that the Lexi-for-Logan swap (I believe that just triggered the GBR-Bat Signal for them to come swarming here). Let's see the results of the swap:
Player | Hitting 2017
| Hitting 2018
| Hitting 2019
| Sun | 0.277 (Texas)
| 0.195 (Neb)
| 0.270 (Neb)
| Eggleston | Junior/Senior H.S.
| 0.278
| 0.314 |
I'll take that swap!
And no, Davis' numbers aren't that great at GBR. So, who knows how this will turn out.

How does everyone feel about the 2020 team? Saying that everything works out with everything and parra joins 2020 how confident does everyone feel with the roster for 2020 and the chances to make a run for the championship?

When it comes to transferring, my thoughts even before the portal were that it doesn't do anyone any good for a student athlete to remain at a school where they are unhappy; it just doesn't have a positive effect on the roster as a whole. Glad players now can move on much easier, and get a second chance elsewhere.
For Capri, getting to Texas in January will help her and us:
- other than Logan and Skylar, no other pin hitters on Spring roster; really helps with roster depth next month - getting acclimated to being a student at a new university way before the beginning of the actual Fall season - allowing her to practice with the majority of the players who will be playing next Fall - she already has personal friendships with several or our players, especially those from the metroplex

Spring 2019 (home games)
North Texas Texas State
Spring 2018 Texas A&M
Spring 2017 North Texas
Grrr....even worse than I remembered.
Also, the newest setter comes in and hopefully we get to see what she offers.

Not every team has Spring matches that are open to the public; a lot of that has to do with players who move on after the Fall and deplete the Spring roster, especially at the setter position.

Championships are tough but I like our odds even without Parra with Davis in the fold. Parra just makes us that much better. I feel that we will have minimized the deficiencies of the '19 version with our new players. I really hope we schedule Nebraska and maybe throw in Wisconsin too. Maybe we can team up with Baylor and do a Big 10 vs Big 12 thing. Although maybe play Creighton and Nebraska in Omaha since final four is there....

So maybe that's why they don't play that many Spring games.
