A 3-2 loss to 7th seeded Minnesota sent the 10th seeded Gators home in the Regional Semifinals. As we look forward to the 2020 season and the newcomers that will arrive, we look back on the accomplishments of the departing seniors and their impact on the program over the course of their careers.Farewell Gators Morgyn Greer Allie Gregory Chanelle Hargreaves Rachael KramerEach of these women had a part in the sustained success the Gator program saw over the last four years. Three Southeastern Conference Championships, two Sweet Sixteens and one National Championship match appearance are just a few of the accomplishments this senior class has to their name. Allie Gregory, a 2-year starting libero, leaves with the fourth most career digs in school history (1421). Rachael Kramer, a 4-year staring middle blocker, leaves with the fourth best career hitting percentage (.401) and places fourth with career block assists (427). Though reserve outside hitter Morgyn Greer and serving specialist Chanelle Hargreaves did not see extended playing time throughout their careers, they both produced when we needed them the most. Greer's performance (9 kills, .429, 2 blocks) at Missouri helped the Gators clinch the SEC and eventually the #2 overall seed in 2017.Arriving GatorsCamille "Birdie" Hendrickson Elli McKissock Nnedi Okammor Sofia Victoria
6'2 Outside Hitter/Setter 5'7 Defensive Specialist 6'4 Middle Blocker 6'1 Outside Hitter
Another handful of newcomers, another year full of possibilities. Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year Birdie Hendrickson headlines this class, looking to make an instant impact upon their arrival at the University of Florida. Add in a now available T'ara Ceasar who sat out all of 2019 and this influx of talent should help keep the gym extremely competitive as each player challenges for one of the various open positions in the starting lineup. I'm not sure anyone would be surprised to see the Gators running a 6-2 come August 2020.

The biggest hole in our game is at the middle position to me. While Dooley has shown prowess at blocking her offense to me is still a question mark... darielle can produce often but struggled blocking... I am kinda hoping for a transfer there.
At the libero position it’s gonna be a brawl between cerame mckissok, and Fischer. I used to think it would be mckissok but I actually am swaying towards Riley now. Her serve receive has impressed me this year which I think will be needed.
Barring any transfers I think Thayer is a lock, and I hope Sophia gives tara some competition to keep a fire under her butt.
Right side is tricky. I think the lack of middle production requires a 6-2. Holly will be in her senior year, so I doubt she’s out. It’s then between Haley, Mia, and birdie. I hope Haley can replicate a performance like the one against Dayton more often, so I think she gets the nod at first.

I was asked to dig out numbers on Thayer by another poster so I thought I'd just swing by to say what a great season she'd had. Quite apart from her hitting numbers (which are available anywhere), Thayer passed a 2.15 (which is right up there with the top 6RO OHs in the country) and had a dig success rate of 82.9% which is also very good.
In terms of who'll win the off colored jersey, obviously you guys know the team better than I but Gregory will be hard to replace. She passed a creditable 2.27 (anything above 2.20 is good for a Libero). By comparison Fischer passed a 2.07 and Cerame a 1.94. Obviously both had fewer attempts but they'll need to pick up those numbers in order for it NOT to feel like a limiting factor on the offense when you watch them next year.
Finally just wanted to single out Paige Hammons. The team's second best attacker, hitting 2.35 (only just behind Thayer) she passed a 2.31 (which would be one of the top scores for a Libero in the nation), she led the team in forcing opponents into bad passes on her serves (56.1% - had of Thayer who forced 51% bad passes), she led the team in 'good block touches' (way above anyone) and has better defensive numbers than just about any other OH I've seen this year. Simply put she's a fantastic player and a credit to the program.
Hope you guys have a great season next year! Go Gators!

Finally just wanted to single out Paige Hammons. . . she passed a 2.31 (which would be one of the top scores for a Libero in the nation) . . . . Maybe it isn't unreasonable to think of her in the off-colored jersey next year.

Maybe it isn't unreasonable to think of her in the off-colored jersey next year. Well I mean... She'd be great. But I don't know if she'd want to make the switch for her final year. She still passed more balls (606) than Gregory did this year, so even if Paige was the libero, they'd still need someone to take up the 500 passes that Gregory made.

I’m sad that hammons is likely to lose her 6 rotation status her senior season after holding it for 2 years. She worked so hard to be demoted to where she was freshman year

A few friends and I were having a discussion the other day where we were listing the line up we would use if we did an all star team from all Gators 2004-2019. While there were debates for certain positions because of the wealth of talent in that long of a span, MB was something we all seemed to agree on as the weakest position. I’m wondering why we can’t find high quality for that role when we can everywhere else.

Hammons at libero would be a gutsy and potentially clutch move. A lot more balls hit high off the hands over a normal libero's head in the backcourt could be picked up. I think she's good enough to be libero, but I'm not sure we want to lose her back row attack if she plays as a DS.

Sad that Kramer was highly sought coming in but was not even talked about much in her senior year.

There will be big competitions at every position. Most interesting will be what happens at libero and setter. McKissock, Cerame and Fischer have 2 years together, as do Monserez and Hendrickson.
Ideally we run the same offensive system the next 2 years, whether that be 6-2, 5-2 or 5-1. We've obviously had the most success recently with the 5-2 and I think ultimately that's where we'll land next year as we have too many weapons for the 5-1 and no one wins the natty in the 6-2.
2020 6-2
L: McKissock, Fr., 5'7 S: Monserez, Jr., 6'0 S: Hendrickson, Fr., 6'2 RS: Carlton, R-Sr., 6'7 RS: Ceasar, R-Jr., 6'1 OH: Hall, Jr., 6'3 (6 rotations) OH: Hammons, Sr., 6'1 (6 rotations) MB: Dooley, Jr., 6'6 MB: King, R-Sr., 6'3 DS: Fischer, Jr., 5'7
2020 5-2
L: McKissock, Fr., 5'7 S: Monserez, Jr., 6'0 (back row) S: Hendrickson, Fr., 6'2 (front row) RS: Carlton, R-Sr., 6'7 OH: Hall, Jr., 6'3 (6 rotations) OH: Ceasar, R-Jr., 6'1 MB: Dooley, Jr., 6'6 MB: King, R-Sr., 6'3 DS w/ back row attack: Hammons, Sr., 6'1 DS: Fischer, Jr., 5'7
The 2021 5-2 would see Warner (R-Jr.), Okammor (So.) and Cerame (Sr.) take over for the graduating spots of Carlton, King and Hammons respectively.
-------------------------------- 2020 backups RS: Soko, R-Sr., 6'4 OH: Victoria, Fr., 6'1 MB: Okammor, Fr., 6'4 S: Martin, Jr., 5'8 DS: Cerame, Jr., 5'8 Redshirt: Warner, R-So., 6'2
