How do we expect the schedules to change? Fewer matches? tougher? more regional opponents?

Libero/DS out of Allen, TX Anyone see them live? Would love another CK type. Her fire was intense but I also feel it was infectious for the team

Go New Gators! But they are a tad close...my Gator parent page is freaking out with all the new cases there in Gainesville. We all just want our kids to go back to Gainesville, new cases= cancelling in person classes and the need to be in Gainesville. President Fuchs is speaking this afternoon and hoping for continued positive news.

Maybe they all held their breath at once, picture snapped, hopped 3 ft away in 4 different directions, exhaled. Let’s hope so!

Givwn that 3 out of 4 of them are wearing different jersey numbers than the current roster on the website, I’d guess this is an old picture. Beyond that, I’m excited for this group. I could see at least two or three of them making a real impact this year. Nnedi’s slide looked good during club and I hope that will become a real weapon for the Gators.

My tongue in cheek observation didn't convey however 11 UF student athletes did test positive for COVID. At least for now, UF did announce they are opening up with in person classes in the fall. Where we are in FL, the tourists are back in full force and there is ZERO precautions from said tourists. Lots of close pictures and selfies (insert laughing emoji here)

I know we had no freshmen last year, but it's weird to see no sophomores on this year's roster. Gotta think that Warner redshirts this season and becomes the lone graduating senior after the 2022 season.
It's interesting Carlton is still being listed as a RS/S despite doing no setting last year and only setting half a rotation her soph season. Maybe there's a bigger role for her setting in 2021? Or likely I'm just reading into this too much.
My final answer best guess at our rotation for 2021 at this point is a 5-2.
Always 2-3 front row hitters plus a back row attacker on the court. Setter will have 3-4 options in any rotation.
MB: King/Okammor MB: Dooley RS: Carlton S(F): Hendrickson S(B): Monserez OH: Hall (6 rotations) OH: Ceasar (Hammons will play backrow) L: McKissock DS: Cerame/Fischer (Carlton's backrow sub)
Backup OH: Hammons Backup OH/RS (blocking sub): Soko Backup MB: Okammor/King Serving Specialist & Backup DS: Fischer/Cerame Redshirt: Victoria & Warner
----------------------------------------------- Last time we ran the 5-2 was in 2017, which was the best year for the Gators since 2003. We have the tools to be just as good as that team collectively in my humble opinion, but I'd give advantage 2017 squad in the areas of MB, RS and L to start the season. 2020 team has advantage with OH and I'd say about even in Setting with 2017 squad. 2020 squad will have the advantage of Hammons' back row attack actually being effective and something the opposing team will need to factor in their game plan. 2020 team has slight advantage in DS dept, at least in terms of depth and experience.
MB-2017 RS-2017 S- Equal OH- 2020 L- 2017 DS- 2020
------------------------------------------------------------- Can someone check my work? Does anything look off?
Rotation 1 OH: Hall MB: Dooley RS: Carlton
DS/OH: Hammons L: McKissock S: Monserez - serving
SR: McKissock, Hammons, Hall
Rotation 2 OH: Ceasar MB: Dooley RS: Carlton
DS/OH: Hall - serving L: McKissock S: Monserez
SR: McKissock, Hall, Ceasar
Rotation 3 OH: Ceasar MB: King RS: Carlton
DS/OH: Hall L: McKissock - serving S: Monserez
SR: McKissock, Hall, Ceasar
Rotation 4 OH: Ceasar MB: King S/RS: Hendrickson
DS/OH: Hall L: McKissock DS: Cerame/Fischer (Carlton will likely serve here and maybe even set so Hendrickson can hit for half a rotation)
SR: McKissock, Hall, Cerame/Fischer
Rotation 5 OH: Hall MB: King S: Hendrickson
DS/OH: Hammons - serving L: McKissock DS: Cerame/Fischer
SR: McKissock, Hammons, Cerame/Fischer
Rotation 6 OH: Hall MB: Dooley S: Hendrickson
DS/OH: Hammons L: McKissock - serving specialist will be used in this rotation, which will be key since it's our weakest offensive rotation DS: Cerame/Fischer
SR: McKissock, Hammons, Cerame/Fischer

She’s looking lean and mean and ready for season yesterday. Hate that a season was burned for her last year tho. Also, I’m going with Okammor over King. Experience might beat out talent in the first match or two (depending on who that will be), but I think Nnedi will take over that spot. For years, Carlton’s sole position was setter. Then she shot up in height and had to then learn hitting technique. She did set on occasion last season. It’s a good tool to keep in the shed.

I really think she is going to get the start for Florida. There may be some growing pains but ultimately she will be the middle on the floor come tournament time. The oppo spot remains a question. It's Carlton's to lose but she has shown that she can be streaky. I wonder if it is on the table to use T'ara there. Her, Hammons, and Hall as the three pins would be awesome to see. Although that move doesn't always work out- Leah Edmond tried play oppo and it was mostly a disaster. 8 months ago, I would have predicted hands down that Birdie would be starting as a freshman. By the end of the season and watching Marlie at USA try outs, I am not so sure of that. Marlie was SETTING in the playoffs- good decision making, accurate setting location, tipped effectively. It's going to ultimately come down to connection which gives Marlie a huge advantage. Marlie also seems like a huge positive when it comes to team chemistry. She has an irrepressible energy and you can tell that she wants to win.

My hopes are so high, but knowing how quick UF was to shut down, I’m hesitant with how many cases Florida is reporting I miss volleyball and want it to start so badly
