There are many P5 programs with 6-rotation opposites. also I thought the comment was for BOTH oppos to play 6ro. That’s my actual question. there’s not really a way to have 2 opposites play 6 rotations unless your setter sets from the middle lol

Only possible in 6-2 systems, and then most double-sub the oppos. Some sub the middles, where it is possible, and libero comes in for the oppos. I suppose you could libero the OHs, but oppos still couldn't play right-back defense. 2005 Nebraska did two six-rotation opposites and made the title game. No Libero - kept Larson, Pavan, Houghtelling and Salameaua in all 6 rotations and setters subbed for the middles. I think that's the only major program to do it. Of course, losing the title game was such a disappointment to that stacked team, Cook chucked the system and no one else has done it since that I can recall. Edit: As madden points out, Hawaii experimented with it last season too.

Wait Hawaii just did this didn’t they? Good catch. For like 2 weeks. Iosia was setting/hitting by the end IIRC.

Plus, I wish that the opposites could just stay in the whole time and have good defense to be able to stay in and hit out of the back. But the ball control and setting doesn't allow for that lmao which 2 oppos would you have stay in?

They just had Barber switch upfront, right? Edit: Yeah, Barber was an oppo, they just did some uncomfortable things to keep her on the left even in sideout. After the 6-2 switch, with the other oppo in, they were normal.

Marquette did it last season too. I don't think they did. Setters subbed for oppos. They just had Barber switch upfront, right? Unless they changed it.. from my memory it was Barber-OH2 for their setters. Werch and Vandenberg were 6-rotations. edit: i see your post. Marquette's rotations give me a headache lol
