4th, sorry... might even be a top 7 team, but no better than 4th in the B1G I am hopeful with another year under their belt the strong sophomore class, combined with some transfers, will allow them to do better than fourth. Granted on paper, 4th in the B1G looks right for them. Hoping team chemistry and having an answer for the loss of KW will allow them to exceed expectations. Don't be surprised if that answer is Maddy Bilinovic. Imo she's top 5 in her class at the position (with Monson, Oglivie, Iosia and McKissock). After a good freshman year, Hampton struggled in 2019 - only managing a good pass percentage of 47% good pass percentage (Holcomb was 53%, White was 59%). Obviously how much practice time they get will dictate things, but I wouldn't be shocked if Bilinovic takes the jersey right out of the gate.

If Penn State finds the passing, they will be very good & could win the Big10 I feel like. Their pins are meh You need to have capable pins to put the ball down. At the top levels, it's almost impossible to sustain high level passing night in and night out in most of the match. In D1, unless you got a setter who can set tempo to middles while being 8-10 feet off the net, the margins on the big matches are rarely going to be determined about which team has the better offensive middles.

I will never count out Russ Rose to put his team in a position to win the Big10 Can he play DS though? That offense is built around the middles but, as great as Parker is, her struggles passing and the switch to 2 person SR hampered PSU. As a team they fell from a good pass percentage of 57.9% in 2018, to 50.7% in 2019. They repeatedly tried going back to 3 passers (with Parker) including in the tournament, but every time they did, she struggled. Without KW, I'm not sure 2 person SR will be an option in 2020 (her communication was vital last year), so the big question for me is, are either of the new pins (or Clark) able to come in, play 6 rotations and pass well? If they can - and allow Parker to be the hammer - they'll be good. If not, 4th is the ceiling for this group I think.

I'd also note, 4th in the Big 10 next year is still certainly "good" It's just Wisconsin and Nebraska will be *very* good and there are big expectations for Minnesota.

Reminder for the people hitting on Parker's passing: she was a S/OPP in high school and for Munciana, and did not receive. She's only started receiving in college.

True, but I also don't think (if they're struggling with passing) they're locked into 4th. I could quite easily see Michigan, Purdue among others, pushing PSU.

Yeah I've gotta say I'm VERY intrigued by that Michigan roster. Lots of talent.

Fitzpatrick will be the next Penn State great IMO Yes...now that you mention Fitzpatrick...she's the gatorade player of the year correct? Both Fitzpatrick and Van Den Elzen were GPOTY. Both have qualities that existing hitters on roster now don’t have. They will have the most effect this year. Van Den Elzen has Courtney qualities. Fitzpatrick has Frantti qualities.

Agreed 2 person serve receive has to go. I think this year will change. Wisconsin is the team to beat. Minnesota is next. Nebraska is a dumpster fire with all their transfers with more to come. I can see Michigan making waves. Illinois is going to struggle. Indiana will surprise as well as OSU.
