Have watched the match in its entirety ~five times. As Karch stated in the play-by-play, Stanford's serve, and their ability to make the badgers free-ball-return so often, was a key factor! They sent 31 free balls over in the match. I believe Stanford then scored on 21 of them.

I've only watched it a couple of times, but I maintain that most of Stanford's "trouble" passes were more in the minor inconvenience category. They did get some really nice bump sets, especially from Hentz, on a few really bad passes.

It wasn't just good serves, it was also the inability of Wisconsin's defense to control Stanford's swings. Credit to Gray, Hentz, Formico, and even McClure for putting up very hittable sets

Finally watched. Really nice to see Stanford's wonderful collection of young ladies do their thing. Wisconsin is a wonderful collection of young ladies too, but that was a big time no show. Dang. What the heck happened? 'Cause they conceded. Kudos to Hambly for the coaching decision of the season-- shutting down Plummer and bringing her back fresh. Kinda confirms everyone's opinion here on Volleytalk -- she looked like she needed a break after that early-season run. I think Jenna mentioned it in an interview after the match -- a symbolic play was McClure taking an aggressive swing into the net in the third and the team's positive reaction. Stanford had the initiative throughout. Kinda like they have been there before. I of course will take away an increased appreciation for the Huskers' effort vs. Stanford last year.

Never bet against a Nebraska team playing in an Omaha Final Four. They did not win in 2008, but they gave Penn State a good run.

I think you're underestimating both Gray's abilities and her equanimity; she had to work some, but she was able to get in good position and make good sets for the most part. The great ones enjoy a bit of a challenge; look what Steve Kerr is doing with a c team roster this year, and I've never seen him look happier. Or go back and watch Carli Lloyd, the world's happiest setter, joyfully picking passes out of the Sousaphones during Cal's glory years.

If a setter needs a good pass to be a good setter, they were never a good setter. This turned into one of Jenna’s biggest strengths. She was great on medium and bad passes.

Agreed and the proof in that is in the final result. Jenna is amazing.

There isn't a player alive or dead who would call Kerr's players a "minor inconvenience." BTW, you were a hitter, right?
