8 seniors...if you count Kraft. 2021 is going to be a challenge.
You'll have 2 returning hitters.
Anyway back to 2020.
First, a great bounce back from us as fans, rainbow starting the thread and us already excited for next year.
Second, I'll be curious who bounces into the Dodge spot. What PT does Gregorski get? Will Wohlert ever see action?

I know this is the 2020 thread, but perhaps we’re underestimating 2021. Yes, it will take some time to get into a groove, but assuming Hammill will be a redshirt freshman with a year in the gym; Asburn will be there; I’m confident both Robinson and Demps will have been contributors in 2020; Hart will be there; Gorum could def turn into a stud; Orzol is AWESOME, Jardine is upping her game (PVB has called her out a few times), Smrek could be great. If we don’t end up signing another 2021 recruit, I would think this is the year the staff goes after a high-profile transfer.

I assume Ashburn holds her spot? Maybe she should get a few passing reps too

I’m most curious about what Sheff decides to do with Ashburn. Does she take over for Dixon as B Squad Captain, or does Hammill get that gig? Can Ashburn be B Squad Captain AND a serving sub / back row defender? It’s sure useful to have her on the court to take the second ball.

Ashburn absolutely has to serve. She’ll be on the court - whether it’s to spell the right side as this year, we’ll see. This team only loses Clark from the serving line this year. Will be interesting to see who replaces her.
Barnes is obvious next choice at libero, but will be interesting to see if AnnaMac pushes her. I like the idea of Kraft as a back row player that can attack. I wonder if that is possible.
Back row is such a tricky thing to predict. None of saw them subbing for all the pin players. I also think Haggerty may play around as there isn’t as much experience in the back row this time around. But I don’t know. Maybe Kraft changes that?

Two questions heading into next year. How does the back row shape up, and who replaces Duello. Really hard to answer either question right now. Hard to answer now but Demps looks to be a banger and high flyer ready to step in on the RS.

I think Robinson is coming in early to train on the right. I think Demps will push Haggerty and Loberg which will be nice if one of them is having an off match.

Would love to see Molly continue what she’s been doing. I’ve been proud of her comeback!

Are either Haggerty or Loberg even good at back row attacking? I do not really remember either of them doing it much in 2018 when they both played 6 rotations. You would think Haggerty would be good at it. But even when she serves, or when they ran out of subs, it never happened. They set Rettke in the back row quite a few times during her serving rotation.
I think the only prediction I am reasonably confident in making for known questions for next year is that Barnes will be libero. If AnnaMac had played more this year I might think she could give Barnes a run. But, I think Barnes would win it either way.
I want to see where Gorum is. She is one of the many unknowns. She eventually got healthy enough to practice this year, correct? Based on the assumption of the kind of athlete she is from what I read when she was recruited, I could see her being in the mix on the right.
Based on some responses here it seems some are assuming Kraft is most likely to end up only a DS? Maybe a DS with back row offense potential. That would be an interesting twist
Anyway, with Demps, Kraft, Gorum, Wholert, Gregorski and Robinson there at least appears to be a lot of competition for front row playing time to replace Duello and push Haggerty and Loberg.

If you remember, one of Haggerty's best plays as a freshman was running the pipe from the backrow. Hopefully thats still an option.

Oops I thought Haggerty was graduating this year. Forgot she had a redshirt.
Wisconsin now is definitely the favorites. Duello and Clark are fine players, but Wisconsin has the talent to replace them.
Wisconsin 2020 is going to be exciting to watch!

9 Days until a good look at Devyn Robinson. UA match is on Flo. I sprung for the annual subscription with all the National Team stuff (Carlini, etc) this spring/summer, so I'm glad that I have it.

So, there was More Punzel out today. What struck me was near the end from Sheffield: “I’m certainly excited about what’s down the road,” Sheffield said. “We’ve got some great pieces that are coming back and we’ve got some great people coming in that have a chance to figure into the equation. And there’s always a spot or two for a possible transfer."I think I am suffering from transfer fatigue because I groaned a bit.
