I would project Orzol as a left.

I am surprised no one is talking about THE most important improvement needed for 2020...... What is Under Armor going to do about those uniforms? I think we will see the same ones. They usually have the same for two years. I know that wasn't the case for the 2016 edition, but those were so obviously rentals in the wrong color red (Indiana, anyone?) with iron on decals ('gerty...) that it was clearly temporary. So we saw the 17-18 edition, and I think the mou-mous will continue for 2020. Their all red one (which looked sharp) did make a few appearances this year (namely the Washington matchup, and I think Nebraska in Lincoln), but I don't know if those will continue again. The best uniforms were hands down the 2013 and 2014 Adidas ones. The subregional featured 3 out of 4 Underarmour uniforms and for UCLA and Notre Dame they seemed appropriately sized. I don't know why the cut was so large for the Wisconsin ones. So, on other topics, what pre-conference matchups would folks like to see? I assume they will play 8 or 9 again. I already mentioned Pitt and Notre Dame; I'd also like to see the new and improved Loyola at the fieldhouse so Berkley can have a better showing on one of her teams. We revenged Baylor in a big way, so let's see Marquette and Washington again. We haven't seen much of the SEC, other than TAMU and South Carolina, so Kentucky would be my pick there. Then for 2021 schedule a little easier to break in the freshmen.

I think the jerseys were made to look worse by how the players chose to wear them. I was never a fan of the look, but I think they looked fine on those who tucked them in. Not so much on those who played untucked. The untucked crew seemed to have a bit of a Kendall White look going on at times.
Their solid jerseys that they wore last year, and a few times this year, are the best of the bunch. Keep it simple, that is what I feel. Red with white letters/numbers and White with red letters/numbers. No need to add weird lines, multi-color sleeves or anything.
On scheduling, I would like to see any and all comers in the non conference. Maybe not quite the gauntlet that Stanford had last season, because they still have the B1G schedule. Is the ACC/B1G challenge still a thing? Will FSU and UNC be back on the schedule? Or maybe Louisville or Pitt. Kentucky would be a good choice. I assume Marquette will be an annual tradition now. Or, so I hope. I would also like to see a real marquee matchup coming from the group of Baylor, Texas, or Stanford.

Anna MacDonald came in highly touted out of high school. I would assume she would sub in for RS or for Haggerty if Haggerty doesn't play all six rotations. The team will miss Duello's blocking. I also wonder if Shanahan gets any chance for pt and Hart playing on the right side. That may be giving up too much offense and also doesn't prepare for 2021 and beyond. Also we can't forget about Kraft. Presumably she wouldn't come all this way just to sit on the bench, unless she was eyeing up UW for graduate school anyway. Highly doubt Kraft sees the court much at all. She hasnt played indoor in 3-4 years and stands just 6-0. Likely transferred to hopefully compete for a title and for academic purposes is my guess. Disagree. Thought I recognized that name. You guys are getting a good one. Kraft is a very skilled Beach defender... She was WCC defender of the year 2018. Defender in Beach just means "not blocker", so she has every skill in the book at a high level.. SR, defense, setting, terminating. With her proven Beach skills, she would be expected to see duty as a DS, probably starting, as well as backup Libero, OH, and OPP. She'll have a good serve as well. One bonus Beach players have in the Indoor game is that they are completely used to all eyes focusing on them. If they're good in Beach, then they're good under pressure, period. And that kind of high performance under scrutiny can also have a positive and calming influence on Indoor players with less experience in the spotlight.

Different courts, different ball, different rules. Serving/passing is much easier on the beach than indoor. Smaller court means less movement and float on serves. Beach balls are more forgiving too than indoor balls. Defensively beach is more about predicting where the ball is going to be hit rather than covering a certain area of the court. The hits are much harder and faster indoor, so digging and ball control is completely different. Maybe she's a stud indoor player too, but I dont think beach success necessarily translates to indoor success. I have a hard time believing someone who hasnt played indoor in 4 years is going to supplant either Loberg or Haggerty but that remains to be seen.

So I know nothing about beach except for the eye test, which to me is a much slower game (and quite frankly I think it's a dumb sport...I might feel differently if they wore more clothes at the pro level...anyway a topic for another day).
That being said how well would she adjust to the faster indoor game?

Is there any chance y’all could stick Ashburn in the passing formation with an offseason of training?

It doesn't necessarily translate, but what you know you're getting in a top Beach player is skills in every aspect of volleyball, and mental strength. You know she's got a developed SR game b/c the Defender in Beach normally gets most of the serves... and that means flat serves into the wind as well that move randomly all over the friggin place. In SR, its not the speed that kills, its the movement. Why do you think that there has been a move away from topspin jump heat to a hard jump flat serve?

That being said how well would she adjust to the faster indoor game? well that's the problem, idn't it? Beach is decidedly not slower, unless the team in question slows it down purposely. Beach is moving to a quick set, move the hitter around model.

I didn't hate the uniforms, actually really like the quality UA puts out for gear on a personal level. With regard to the uniforms I don't think they look the best untucked, looks sloppy. In part because the fit of them is just not on point. I mean we aren't talking a 12u club team that some disgruntled parent put together, we're talking freaking Badger volleyball y'all.

Sheffield mentions there being room for a "transfer or so, as well". Do we need another elite defender/libero, or more depth on the outside? with Robinson's prowess for blocking and her ability to attack off both one and two feet, i can see her starting on the right from day one. Wolert is still a mystery, but in warm-ups she hits only on the right. Gorum looks raw and since she red-shirtedwe could see her in the middle replacing Hart in a couple of years. Gregorski is a player that Sheffield raved about when she came to camp but then she suffered a couple of injuries, so it remains to be seen if she can regain that 10'2" approach, but she has the fiery nature to help in the back row, and i suspect that is where we might see her first. It would be nice to add another solid OH transfer this year, or another foriegn outaside for 2021. Any rumblings about who is on our radar in 2022?
