And lack of any sort of clue of what to do on the part of the coaching staff. I'm not sure what else they can do? They've tried multiple different lineups and offenses. The majority of players they put on the floor haven't shown the ability to play anything close to competitive volleyball. Ultimately that falls on the staff. Certainly poor roster construction. Let's see if they have any fight left. |

The roster, the utilization, the lack of fight, the lack of improvement of basic passing or setting skills (both actually regressing as the season goes on): that is what I mean by "lack of any sort of clue of what to do on the part of the coaching staff." |

Tip after tip for kills. Roll shot after roll shot into the doughnut for kills...with no one even close to picking them up. Those are coaching adjustments that aren't happening. And these happen in match after match.

Coach Barnes referenced in post-match interview that Buettner is not 100% percent ("nicked up"). Hope nothing serious. She has given her heart, soul and body to this program in just one season.

Coach Barnes has frequently stated that "players don't leave our program" (after losing Onabanjo, Tessier, VanderWeide, Washington and Hinkle to the transfer portal from last year...and yes, I get it that 3 of those players were ones he "inherited"). It will be interesting to see how true that is after this season ends. If I am figuring correctly, we will definitely lose Buettner and Caspers due to eligibility but everyone else could return if they wanted to (not saying it is necessarily best for the program or the athletes themselves to stay, but just that all others are eligible for at least one more year). To me, the one player who would be the most impactful to lose is Moravec. I see her as having B1G level talent/capability. |

They had to dump most of roster for major issues and had to deal with ncaa sanctions. It’s a complete rebuild. Except it was never even built in the first place. Bond won 2 Big 10 matches in his 2nd season. And they weren’t coming off all these issues. It’s not a job for the faint of heart.

Barnes will get 4 or 5 years for sure to turn this around for the reasons Prime pointed out. He negotiated a 7 year contract to make sure the University was committed to the time it will take to turn this around. I too believe Moravec will be the one to watch. She could develop into a good BIG hitter. If she leaves I think it spells trouble. I do know a parent of a current player and they report that the players love the coaching staff. Obviously we need improvement everywhere, but libero and more consistent setting will be critical. Need another big arm to replace Buetner. If he can continue to build culture and improve the talent I think he can get the program moving in the right direction. I have not given up on Barnes yet. He will need support and NIL support to compete.

Any updates on what may have happened with Maddy Hanson? I don't think she is even on the sidelines, right? And looked like Black, Lombardi and Worden all were not dressed for last night's match. Add in Buettner apparently being "nicked up" and yikes.  |
