I believe our setting and backrow defense improves with what I’ve seen that we have leaving in the portal…
I like what I’m seeing about what this staff is doing to make improvements- although I will say I don’t support pushing the kids out if that’s what’s happened. Just support being realistic about their VB chances of PT.

At some point in my life...I'd just like to see the Hawks put 6 Big 10 caliber players the floor🙏. I get it! I will say that these 6 in 2016 were (in my opinion) all in that category: S - Loxley Keala MH - Jess Janota MH - Ashley Mariani OH - Lauren Brobst OH - Meghan Buzzerio RS - Reghan Coyle L - Annika Olsen Not that there haven't been many other B1G-caliber players, but as far as on the floor all at once, this lineup was the one that came to mind. Ahhhh...the memories! Bond was on the move up! He got a raw deal imho

Heard Moravec is staying today which is huge news. Was she really ever in the portal? Glad you heard she is staying. She will be a big part of the future. I did hear a name at the setter position who Iowa is talking with. If they get her, watch out. A real difference maker. The incoming Libero Galles will make a big impact on the 1st contact. This setter, if it happens, will make an even bigger impact on the 2nd contact.

That and since she already transferred once, she would have to sit out a year if transferring again to another D1 school. Thus, no option really to leave and play next year.

I was going off the posts stating she had already entered the portal. Seems more likely she was weighing her options and decided to stay.

However, he didn't get a raw deal. He broke the rules and paid the price.

He broke the rules and paid the price. I was a big Bond fan too but he isn’t going back to coaching. At least not at the D1 level. Also, Bond was 2-18 in his 2nd season at Iowa. Not coming off NCAA sanctions. Proper time is of the essence in this overhaul rebuild. The portal can hopefully excelerate the process

Moravec is confirmed in the portal. Someone posted earlier about her having to sit a year, which is true. Could make it hard for her to find a new school since the NCAA supposedly has made it hard to get waivers recently. I don’t know if this is true. There is no way she would try to transfer again. Where is it “confirmed?” On another note, just landed in Cancun and the first thing I hear is “Go Hawks”. Per the NCAA portal website she is still listed in there. Maybe she has asked to come back because sitting a year is a lot to ask.

Ortega to LSU. Posted it in the 2024 transfer thread hey Iowa board! I’m not too familiar with Ortega so curious what kind of setter LSU is getting for her final year of eligibility. I did see she won BIG 10 sportsmanship award for like 3 years in a row, so looks like she is a great teammate and advocate for the program

Her intangibles are excellent. She's more of a 6-2 setter due to her height. If this is for depth and having a veteran presence, I would say it's a good pick-up. I'm not sure what the LSU setting situation currently is? The team certainly didn't make it easy on her with how poor they were in serve receive.

Oh, I miss Loxley Keala. She was such a bright and driven kid, and a really talented setter.
