Anyone heard how Barnes is doing on the transfer market these days? I think we have good pieces in all positions but obviously could use some depth and more talent all around

Haven't heard anything since the additions of Davis and Urquhart. Other than those two, believe there is one commit for the fall: DS/L Harlei Cole from Papillion LaVista (NE) South. That makes 11 players for the fall of 2022 so there will clearly be some significant transfer portal activity still to come. Agree that we really do have solid pieces in place for all positions but definitely need additional depth and talent. To me, it was critical that VanderWeide, Hinkle and Ortega all chose to stay and especially huge that Jones did, too! With Barnes being quite vocal about liking to run much of his offense through the middle, have to believe that may have caught Amiya's attention and am excited to see her potentially utilized more than she has been. She can be a force! And sure not intending to slight Black, Schmidt, Dennis and Onabanjo, who all are solid as well...so pleased they are staying in Iowa City. Also, certainly want to wish Clayton the best at Purdue. She has been fun to watch grow in her game and has such a positive on-court vocal presence. Not sure who they will lock up. |
