This would lead me to believe Iowa has been looking for a setter in the portal—may be wrong. I think they have been looking for one, maybe two. Especially since there was 2 on roster this fall and Ortega went in the portal. I will also be interested to see if any other players enter the portal this winter. |

I think that knocks out all the previous staffs players.
Nice athlete but not a Big 10 setter.
If Iowa gets a setter like the Libero they just got they will be in much better shape. I like the incoming freshman setter Meitzler to.

The staff gave her every opportunity to show she could run an offense. Her placement was consistently off & it was a struggle to say the least. Seems like a good kid, wish her the best. This leaves no one to set in the spring. You would think they'd need a scholarship setter & walk on for depth & to balance reps. I haven't seen anything on Moravec but generally where there's smoke...🔥 |

I may have missed it, but I haven't seen any official word of any of them in portal as of yet? |

In P5 conferences, athletes who received scholarships as freshmen cannot have their scholarship revoked at all during their tenure unless they break some sort of team rules; they cannot have their scholarship revoked for athletic performance reasons. This takes away some of the coaches’ “freedom” to make roster decisions. Jim can’t do whatever he wants with the roster; there are some athletes there who are guaranteed the scholarship for their entire career. |

Unless I have missed any of these officially going into portal (some speculation but nothing official I know of as of now), I see ten remaining players on the roster (Moravec, Dennis, Davis, Deery, Lavin, Worden, Urquhart, Lombardi, Hanson and Vesty). Then there are five 2024 commits as of now (Garcia, Meitzler, Marquardt, Phills and the one just referenced a couple of days ago, which we assume is Galles transferring from Arizona). But to your overall point, losing more could definitely be problematic. In my opinion, and I believe of many others, losing Moravec would definitely be the biggest possible loss of those remaining. Let's sure hope that will not be the case. |

I agree that Moravec would be the biggest loss. A previous poster talked about Jim not looking at the whole team as his recruits or players and I would strongly push back on that. I never heard Jim not call all recruits his, so I absolutely would push back on him trying to cleanse the team of the old staff’s recruits. I think he is having honest season ending evaluations with everyone on the team and those are leading to player decisions. Obviously players may leave who the staff thinks could contribute at a big 10 level, but to date, I think Moravec would be the only player I think falls into that category.

Where is it “confirmed?” On another note, just landed in Cancun and the first thing I hear is “Go Hawks”. |
