hey Iowa board! I’m not too familiar with Ortega so curious what kind of setter LSU is getting for her final year of eligibility. I did see she won BIG 10 sportsmanship award for like 3 years in a row, so looks like she is a great teammate and advocate for the program You really won't find a more team oriented player. Her intangibles are excellent. She's more of a 6-2 setter due to her height. If this is for depth and having a veteran presence, I would say it's a good pick-up. I'm not sure what the LSU setting situation currently is? The team certainly didn't make it easy on her with how poor they were in serve receive. appreciate the insight! yes I believe it is for depth purposes as this past seasons starting setter is in the portal and a freshman who took a redshirt year due to injury who played for the Israeli National Team is expected to take over the setter position. Ortega would provide great experience and someone she could learn from, but I could also see them running a 6-2 as well

Has anyone seen her play? I have not. Comes from a great high school program in Kuemper Catholic. Juco top 5 in total digs & digs per set but obviously a big jump in competition. I would think Galles from Arizona got the libero scholarship and Kenya would be a walk-on for year 1.

Haven't seen an "official" similar type of announcement about Galles.

Seems like the one time transfer rule has been temporarily lifted by a judges ruling. What Moravec does should be telling. If her only reason for staying was having to sit a year, she's probably gone.

The word from a media person close to the team is a significant recruit at setter is on campus and would be big for Iowa. And Moravic is on the team. Not leaving.

Barnes was quoted in the Cedar Rapids Gazette saying they would bring in up to 5 players from the portal to go along with the 4 incoming freshman. Urquhart suffered a concussion & McSweeney was dealing with a torn labrum.

The setter who Prime heard was campus? I believe Claire Ammerral is from Wisconsin which would explain the hint.

The setter who Prime heard was campus? I believe Claire Ammerral is from Wisconsin which would explain the hint. As others have stated, I do remember being impressed by her when the Hawks played CMU. Lefty and an aggressive attacker, if I recall. If this is who this is about, there are some exciting possibilities/potential in the all-important setter position when you also factor in Meitzler, who seems to have much upside as well.

I saw this setter play at Green Bay and she almost had a triple double in a 3 set match. I was shocked she wasn’t setting for a Big 10 team.
