5th best means worst as it relates to power 5 conferences, resources, budget.... they had 9 teams fairly well below 100 rpi. The ACC as a league stunk and how they did in NCAA is nothing compared to how they did regular season. Incorrect. Only eight ACC teams fell below the 100 RPI mark: BC (122), Miami (137), Duke (139), Clemson (151), NC State (157), Virginia (169), Wake (195), and VT (216). Seven were above your artificial plateau of "stunkiness". Yes, 8 not 9 bad teams blows up my argument

Seven were above your artificial plateau of "stunkiness". Yes, 8 not 9 bad teams blows up my argument Your argument was lame from the start. There are 31 division 1 conferences in volleyball. By your measuring stick, the RPI, the ACC came in fifth, and you said they stunk. Of course, you were saying they were the bottom conference from the Power 5. But that designation of Power 5 refers to the money-making sports of football and basketball. Conferences, and the individual schools within them, have varying priorities on how much support they give to any one sport. Look up how the ACC does in soccer, basketball, and lacrosse to see how well they do in sports they care more about. Also, check out how they perform in academics. After all, education is supposed to be the core aspect of college. The ACC collectively has gotten better in volleyball, compared to where they were 20 years ago. Back then, they were consistently trailing the WCC, for example. I am confident the ACC will be even better in 20 more years. It's a slow process, and there's a lot of luck involved in having your program improve. I don't even like your measuring stick, less than 100 in the RPI. Compare BC (RPI 122) and Syracuse (RPI 94). The latter passes your test of respectability, but a careful comparison of the match results of the two teams should have you believing that BC was better this past season even though they finished 28 RPI points behind. I could go on, but I think I've beaten you "fairly well" here, whatever that means.

Happy to see a volleyball coach and program have real success and get rewarded for it. Good for them.

I didn’t say anything about academics, or other non revenue sports or where the ACC will be in 20 years, so yes, you won that argument that was never mentioned let alone argued. Their league wasn’t very good, and was the worst of the conferences with big time money and support of athletics. That isn’t an opinion, it’s a fact.

You claimed the ACC stunk because they finished last of the five Power 5 conferences. And they did this year, but also ahead of 16 other conferences. I disagree with your terminology. Fifth out of 31 doesn't fit "stunk" in my book. However, I noted that you weren't comparing the ACC to all conferences, just those in the Power 5, presumably in an effort to force the conference to fit your misleading label. You note here the "big time money". But all five of those conferences get that money, so it doesn't give the ACC an advantage over other Power 5 conferences. It just gives them an advantage over all of the other conferences, which they finished ahead of. In this sport, women's volleyball, the ACC lags the other four conferences in the Power 5. It hasn't had a tradition there as it has had in other sports, and in academics, where the ACC applies more money and effort and finishes higher as a conference compared to other Power 5 conferences. Despite that, an objective look at historical records will show the ACC is trending closer to the conferences above it in this sport over time. I don't think this year changed that trajectory at all (see Texas losing to Louisville). If the trajectory is up, then that's not really stinking either.

Again I never said anything about them relative to the other 16 conferences. You can’t disagree with terminology I never used. Trajectory (future) has again nothing to do with my statement, which was last year (the past) . We aren’t disagreeing as your making entirely different arguments. They may be the best conference on the planet in two years, I said they stunk last year relative to the other power 5 conferences and they in fact did.

That's a nice-looking facility! Good for Pitt, and good for the sport! She’s done some really positive things there, but if she doesn’t get football and basketball going she won’t be there to enjoy. Sadly
